Looks like Revo released their tune... I have a seperate offer...

frankly the tune won’t be any better than APR. It will be more of the same…boost bleedoff eliminated, DSG limits raised, speed limiter might be eliminated. That’s about it…because if you change too many things on the tune, the B8 S4 Simos ECU will go into self protection mode and overwrite the APR flash, going back to stock, or bricking.

Going to be a while before anyone REALLY unlocks the dynamics of the B8 S4, ECU wise.

Saki, Good points… I can 100% tell you that APR can tweak the timing which along with not bypassing the boost is going to be the biggest benefit… IMO APR is rather conservative(not complaining as I want my motor to stay together) I am most curious as to what timing numbers the revo tune pulls in comparison to my current tune… Also, want to see timing pull relative to boost… boost will obviously be different given pulley and such… Time will tell… Also, as much as I like APR nothing beats additional competition to help improve not only cost but quality… again not that APR’s tune isn’t quality but now they have more reasons to try and improve on their product to continue to demand a premium price… Good times ahead for this platform…

I am waiting to see the GIAC tune for the B8. Theirs is the most aggressive basic tune for the B5’s so I think they will give it the beans. At the cost of supercharger life obviously.

primtime you are the ONLY B8 guy I can respect. You GET it. Props to you

what about richi and 81bear lol

I think this has changed. GIAC isn’t able to do much anymore. They seem to have fallen way back in the pack. If I remember from my B5 days. It was the members that made the GIAC program better then it was. The GIAC program was so bad that you could actually over boost the car and it wouldn’t know.

Now that the old pioneers have a good solid comfortable spot I think there tunes will get more and more lame. The GIAC tune for the S5 was the single biggest waste of time ever. There 2.0T tunes are somewhat of a laughable experiment as well.

My biggest worry will be that the B8 guys will get what a few of the RS4 guys got with Revo. A company that is happy to blow up your motor in an attempt to gain some sort of market share.

I can’t help but feel you’re talking about me on that one lol.

it’s all good our efforts are lost

I’m not feeling the love Joe…

Shit sorry guys. I LOVE ALL AudiRevolution members.

^^lol…No worries bud!

what did REVO do to RS4 owners? I honestly have no idea. REVO is pretty tiny so I don’t even remember anyone other than Richi getting revo tuned.

when I was looking for an RS4, I looked in the US too, and there was a low mileage car with a giant fucking REVO sticker on it. It was pretty funny. I passed (I wouldn’t buy a car from anyone who wants an extra 10-20 hp over stock, because that means the guy pushes the car to 10/10ths…and i don’t want that guys car, my cars included)

which is why i posted up my VIN and warned ppl of my car lol

Looks like we all wasted our money with the APR tune…Euro Tuner magazine says the stage 1 Revo tune does an 11.93 1/4mile…lol!

81 we should do a test on your car and my car using my PBOX.

we’ll do a quarter mile for each car on a flat road

then we’ll do one on a downhill road

then we’ll show everyone the difference is HUGE and maybe then people will stop quoting pbox/gtech numbers as anything but what they are…pbox and gtech numbers.

it seems a little off for a tuning company to use the p-box as a measurement device.

the only way we are going to know if this tune is any good is if some one takes up PT’s offer.

Thanks Lout…

looks like someone in Cali is going to make a pass Sat on the revo tune… only other mod being 19inch CHR’s(same as I have… lol) folks on AZ are prediciting times as eric from supreme power is promising “something cool” to whoever comes closest… people are guessing as low as 12.29! LMFAO… bear’s probably got one of the best guesses at 12.80 this run will be in cali at fontana, with a DA of probably 1500ish and 91 gas… car is a 2010 dsg so who knows how it will shift… I’ll guess 12.79 and say they do decent as their dynos suggest more midrange p/u over APR… maybe they are running leaner a/f ratios? timing? requested vs actual boost? bypass? etc… hopefully some logs get taken…

well, problem is we don’t know what this guy ran stock. He’s a DSG with no launch control, so anywhere from 13.0-13.4 is likely for stock on 91.

He’s going Sunday morning, to AutoClubDragway. Today at 11am for example it was DA 1696 there. Lets guess a 13.20 stock if conditions are indeed like this morning.

Fastest ever ‘just a tune’ 91 (Stasis) run was ZCD who ran 12.79
Fastest ever ‘just a tune’ 93 (APR) run was asm77 who ran 13.2 (at 4500 feet DA)

(so much for 'with just a tune the B8 S4 would walk ‘everything but a veyron’ talk…looking at the actual data it’s clear that the car runs mid-high 12s with just a tune in the grand majority of cases)

Since the tune probably adds about 30 whp, all of it up top, I’ll say he’s going to run 12.85 or so. Slower wouldn’t surprise me as we’ve seen a bunch of guys just go lay an egg when there are lots of people watching. Faster wouldn’t surprise me either as the B8 fucking loves accelerating.

More interesting, prediction wise, I will ALSO predict that if he does run something un-incredible (like running well at 12.85 for a 91 octane just a tune car at shit DA), APR fanboys will say ‘that’s crap’ and point to the fastest EVER tuned APR cars with full bolt ons or tuned stage II on race gas cars as an example of why 12.8 is crap. Then I will call them idiots on Audiworld, and I will be labelled an ‘APR hater’ as well as the usual ‘B8 hater’

lol

Well there is always the war room for you to vent saki

Just for funzies, i predict 12.82.

Should be interesting results regardless of the time. Has anyone worked out what they have done differently to APR on the tune

Saki, shut up you hater! lol Seriously though… I think their tune will be a little more aggressive and they may get a decent time… bad track, bad fuel, ok da, no experience for the diver even as a dsg car = not so good times… either way unless the tune is night and day different which I can’t see it being they won’t run a stellar time… should have released it mid nov. to someone in the midwest and had them hit the strip and log… really good marketing on their part! LOL

Lout, Not that I am aware of… if I could get 1st-5th gear logs for specific fields(actual boost, requested boost, bypass, iat, timing, timing pull by cylinder, rpm, air flow, etc)… it would be somewhat straightforward to compare the tunes and most likely how they go about getting there… just my .02 which is why I have made my offer… These times won’t tell me shit imo… still curious… would rather see his data logs…
