Looks like Revo released their tune... I have a seperate offer...

well, problem is we don’t know what this guy ran stock. He’s a DSG with no launch control, so anywhere from 13.0-13.4 is likely for stock on 91.

He’s going Sunday morning, to AutoClubDragway. Today at 11am for example it was DA 1696 there. Lets guess a 13.20 stock if conditions are indeed like this morning.

Fastest ever ‘just a tune’ 91 (Stasis) run was ZCD who ran 12.79
Fastest ever ‘just a tune’ 93 (APR) run was asm77 who ran 13.2 (at 4500 feet DA)

(so much for 'with just a tune the B8 S4 would walk ‘everything but a veyron’ talk…looking at the actual data it’s clear that the car runs mid-high 12s with just a tune in the grand majority of cases)

Since the tune probably adds about 30 whp, all of it up top, I’ll say he’s going to run 12.85 or so. Slower wouldn’t surprise me as we’ve seen a bunch of guys just go lay an egg when there are lots of people watching. Faster wouldn’t surprise me either as the B8 fucking loves accelerating.

More interesting, prediction wise, I will ALSO predict that if he does run something un-incredible (like running well at 12.85 for a 91 octane just a tune car at shit DA), APR fanboys will say ‘that’s crap’ and point to the fastest EVER tuned APR cars with full bolt ons or tuned stage II on race gas cars as an example of why 12.8 is crap. Then I will call them idiots on Audiworld, and I will be labelled an ‘APR hater’ as well as the usual ‘B8 hater’

lol

Well there is always the war room for you to vent saki

Just for funzies, i predict 12.82.

Should be interesting results regardless of the time. Has anyone worked out what they have done differently to APR on the tune

Saki, shut up you hater! lol Seriously though… I think their tune will be a little more aggressive and they may get a decent time… bad track, bad fuel, ok da, no experience for the diver even as a dsg car = not so good times… either way unless the tune is night and day different which I can’t see it being they won’t run a stellar time… should have released it mid nov. to someone in the midwest and had them hit the strip and log… really good marketing on their part! LOL

Lout, Not that I am aware of… if I could get 1st-5th gear logs for specific fields(actual boost, requested boost, bypass, iat, timing, timing pull by cylinder, rpm, air flow, etc)… it would be somewhat straightforward to compare the tunes and most likely how they go about getting there… just my .02 which is why I have made my offer… These times won’t tell me shit imo… still curious… would rather see his data logs…

yeah, just saw that. Kiss of death for REVO

“The owner is new to tuning, and this is his first time at the dragstrip”

cut to Sunday morning when he lines up beside the tree and all the domestic guys laugh

then cut to him deep staging and running a shit time.

Primetime…PM the guy and give him some tips!

You never know there maybe one hell of a tailwind! Lol!

Looking at the graph for the Revo tune and the APR 93 tune they look pretty much identical with the exception that APR’s stock HP numbers take a nose dive after 5500rpm vs Revo’s stock car keeping HP constant which seems to be more in line with other independent stock dynos, it kinda makes me wonder what’s up with the APR stock HP graph?

Agreed… with the owner being new to tuning, first time at the strip, and having a DA between 1500-2000 I doubt the times are going to be to impressive. I’m sure the driver will deep stage, will use his right foot to hold the brake and mash the gas, and I doubt he will have the ability (or the inclination) to hot lap his car for optimum results. I think I should change my guess to 12.9…

Saki, I would but the person is not on the forums… big surprise there eh… I am sure eric and the revo folks who will be there will help him out… looking forward to the results…

poor Revo. They may have a nice tune for you guys, with a $300 savings vs. APR…same switchability etc…and if this guy runs a normal to bad time, it’ll be dead in the water.

Well looks like GIAC will be out soon…

Sounded like a diesel tractor trying to rape an airplane

LMFAO… I am going to guess the environment, IE dyno and facility have a lot to do with the sound but yeah it’s pretty bad… want some real world numbers on these cars… Oh and CEL FTL… there will be a few sets this weekend on the revo, and one will be pretty interesting… lol

All I can say is that video is a major fail for GIAC. the fact that there promo video shoing there tune has a CEL. OMG what a joke. Good to see the GIAC standard is set so low. Maybe its not coming now because they can’t get the CEL to go off.

Its actuall stuff like the GIAC video and the REVO stuff that ruin a platform. The GIAC thing I think no one is suprised by that. The REVO thing is that they need to be careful. If they push too hard and harm a car thats all bad. If they don’t push hard enough there just a joke.

It is good to see the Audi guys are catching on to over looking the dyno and looking for hard facts.

Flow, yeah unofortunately at this point no one on AZ has even mentioned the CEL after 5 hours of the video being up… lol gotta love the folks on AZ… Arin has stirred up a firestorm also… probably not the best comment… he should let their results speak for themselves… lol…

double post, sorry…

looks like the badly carboned up RS4 dyno plots. Just flat lines.

I also don’t think that will be out soon either. I think that is an ‘oh SHIT…REvo is live to market. QUICK…post something that will stop people buying so they wait for us’ video.

Kind of like the stratmosphere 3.0 (B6 A4) downpipes which, after 9 years of no 3.0 products, have MYSTERIOUSLY appeared just as JHM is about to launch their own.

here’s a question…why is everyone demanding timeslips from REvo? Apr posted a dyno that everyone lapped up with fervour, and that was it.

I mean I would want to see real world numbers too but just wondering becuase nobody demanded shit of APR when they launch b8 parts (even after some of their parts have been shown to be untested as their tune revisions have i.e. stage II cars going into limp…and now launch control is rendered useless for the '11+ stage II guys).

just found it odd. \It’s not like this is REVO’s first rodeo.

13.208…

lol

even though tons of APR tuned guys ran 13n(including you 81bear your first pass which was 13.2 and you’re now the fastest pump gas car) let’s see how the apr fanboys handle this piece of information…

here’s your first pass

The REVO guy mentioned that he staged at the tree, just as I joked above. Damn. So he definitely deep staged the shit out of it, and was far too worried about reaction time. Not sure why the B8 guys all talk about ‘go on the third yellow’…who gives a fuck about reaction time.
