I’d say that’s more of an excuse to give the B8 guys a better reason why they’re not able to get stage 2 yet. I don’t see how GIAC could know if someone was attempting to steal their software.
There are plenty guys that openly admit to stealing software…here
It’s like the pot calling the kettle black. Ddilenger offers to put “big box” tunes on people’s ECU. He claims there is nothing wrong with it because he isn’t selling the tunes. He also offers to help fix peoples ECUs with software already installed like (JHM, GIAC, APR…)
that guy’s a fucking joke ddlinger
incredibly, he was given a couple of infractions on AZ which I think put him into account terminated status, but the AZ guys all fought for him to come back. Of course they like him…he gives them stolen fucking tunes for half the money! “I’ll help you out for $250 and fix up your tune. I will also give you APR 100 file” etc.
Guy is cancer, and the fucking freeloaders on AZ who rallied around him were the ones Audizine admin Anthony decided to listen to.
Not APR, the biggest sponsor on the site. Not JHM or GIAC. Nope. Anthony sided with the pondscum thieves.
I don’t get it.
I think you misspoke, B8’s have had Stage 2 for a while.
Version 2 of the software is what they do not have yet.
Yeah, not sure if it’s true or what but since Austin mentioned it I was curious who everyone thought may be trying to steal it?
APR - No way IMO… They can do things on their own and were first to market… DSG tune is only thing they are currently lacking…
Stasis - DOA
Revo - I guess a possibility but given the disarray they are dealing with from the Stasis divorce I wouldn’t think it’s them even though they supposedly have the history…
EPL - Given we haven’t seen or heard of the results from their tune(although I heard they exist just aren’t being shared) maybe it’s them instead of punting to UM for help, see RS4 AMD tune on that one…
UM - Haven’t heard a peep out of them on the B8 front but I doubt it’s them…
Jconz - good possibility… Maybe they think it will allow the twin charged car to run better than 12.2?
Who else?
My guess is EPL or Jconz…
It more than likely isn’t another real company. My guess are the 2 I mentioned, ETG (jconz) or ddilenger.
Speaking as an engineer (although not a software or CE guy), stealing software is only useful if you want to simply turn around and resell it as is. It is usually a bigger PITA to go through someone’s work and reverse engineer it so you can improve/change it. Keep in mind that I don’t know much about how these software flashes work other than basic common knowledge spoken here + AZ, so I could be completely off.
Point is, I doubt APR would try to steal GIAC’s DSG tune, because they would lose the ability to tweak it/fine tune it. The more likely thing is send one of their cars over to get the GIAC DSG flash, and then competitively benchmark it. By that I mean performance benchmark, not compare code.
My .02
If you were truly the best of the best, you wouldn’t bother stealing a tune. i.e. what the hell are you going to steal…how to be worse? slower?
If you were not…and were trying to get something that works going, you could potentially steal. Don’t see it from the big guys.
Funny, JHM has had their tuning borrowed a couple of times. It’s extremely easy to point out. They bury stuff in there that you wouldn’t do unless you were burying a signature.
I honestly didn’t think it was APR but wanted to cover all the bases… Euro is probably right or it’s totally someone new to the game just trying to be able to steal and sell something at a lower cost… Guess will never know unless Austin tells us which I doubt will happen…
One question I have is how the hell can they tell their software cals are being lifted? Does that insinuate dealer collusion, or maybe on-site from a disgruntled employee? He also said “attempted”, so that doesn’t sound like they stumbled on someone’s ECU with their software.
I’ve heard of memory sticks being laced with spyware designed to steal things. Some serious CSI shit :o
Aren’t some dealers offering multiple platforms? i.e. APR, GIAC, REVO? Could easily happen. Strike that…has happened…in the B8 lol. So yeah that is not unheard of at all.
Why do you think APR was having you guys ship your ECU infor 18 months? They can’t trust their entire dealer network. One leak, and BANG…it’s out.
Interestingly REVO mentioned that they had portflashing first, and almost instantly, everyone else did too, implying the competition stole their work.
God I remember that… all of the accusations and indirect claims were fucking annoying.
I mean there a few of APR/GIAC dealers… anyone know of Revo/GIAC or GIAC/EPL dealers?
Place I just went to in Toledo was an APR/Revo dealer, plus a shit ton of JDM stuff.
I seriously doubt it’s epl as they have had their tune out for awhile now

Still figuring it out though…“revising”

I agree.
EPL is so arrogant they don’t realise their tuning is a weakness and wouldn’t bother trying to improve because in their minds it’s impossible.

Well you have Eurocode who will basically whore themselves out Revo, APR, Stasis, etc or whomever will line their pockets and then wash their hands of it… But hey give them a break as the stuff they make is “made in the usa”, their intakes get you like 15+ HP and improve fuel economy by 20%, and you also have those awesome headers they make… I’ll stop now… Too bad papertrashbag isn’t around anymore(joking) as I hear he has nothing but good things to say about his Revo experience on the dyno at Eurocode…
Was Paperish the one who popped his engine on a dyno with Revo? I know J’s story, but didn’t know the other one.

I believe it was his green car, cylinder 5
he switched to APR very shortly thereafter, replete with giant stickers and no timeslips despite many bold EuroCrowed headers claims
p.s. this was interesting…
[quote=Revoguy]The reason the tour was done is at the time we were the only tuner in the world who could port flash those ecus, in order to protect our IP we were not yet prepared to send it out to dealers making it easy to steal. Unfortunately despite having specific checks in place on that tour a competitor sniffed our comms during a flash and had our flashing protocols all because one of the people sent didn’t check all the cars.
