Interesting… Almost sounds like the oil is what causes the mechatronic faliure… I’m up for the DSG fluid change next service for my 35K so I’ll just have them do it then as part of AC… Car will have 8K miles but whatever… lol
Nice find. I’m up for the fluid change next service as well. But I’m guessing DSG owners will be able to get this at no cost per the recall.
Yeah I would assume… I got AC for free after I complained to AOA when they gave me an extended warranty as compensation for the water pump issue… I told them I wanted AC instead, they gave me both… My plan was to purchase after the first service once I found out about the cost of the DSG change since it made it much more worthwhile but since I got it for free it was no biggie… I love how my DSG works and am leary once they touch it, it won’t work as well… I guess that’s the chance you take…
Ouch
[quote]Costs will probably be in the high double-digit or even triple-digit million-euro range

Interesting issue too, switching from synthetic back to mineral due to electronic conductivity or something of that sort it appears.
So is the synthetic fluid the actual cause or just a shitty design from 08-11 that they figured out for the '12 and on? Guess we will see…
If it does come for free makes even happier I didn’t purchase AudiCare. The DSG service was the only reason I was contemplating it.
The strange thing is that this recall is issued for the DQ200 which is the transverse motors.
The thing is, there is a TSB for the same thing for the DL501 which is for the S4.
And if in fact the issue of plates delaminating is already present or is a problem that has started a simple fluid change will do nothing and the entire mechatronics unit will need to be replaced.
I would have loved to know what caused the failure for my units but of course they will tell me it’s the ecu flash.
Will be interesting to see the actual recall.
what a bummer for them. How’s that possible?
Just think how many cars this affects. Never mind the S4s…the golfs from 1 year alone of sales will be ten fold the total number S4s sold in 5 years.
The postage alone will cost them a couple million dollars…nevermind shop time, parts etc
Time to scrap this transmission entirely. As great as it is for track days and drag racing it really is the wrong thing for normal day to day driving. It is not designed or built for that and frankly no DCT is. Look at mercedes for example only place you find a DCT is in the SLS and now the CLA45/A45 (which may be because it was the only option for that FWD setup) but none of the AMG cars have it. Jag opted for zF 8 Speed for all their performance cars. RS7 and S8 same thing. All of these autobahn stormers all go for the standard torque converter auto because simply put they are superior for day to day driving.
Yeah, ZF 8 speeds are the new awesome.
Audi has the ZF auto in the S8/RS6/RS7 and everyone loves it in there.
6MT FTMFW
Are they not also found in some way or variation in most of the other standard models as well? (A4/Q5/A6/A8 etc)
and the SQ5, i gotta say it was REALLY nice for an auto…
Yes for sure, however I was referring to the performance cars (he mentioned AMG etc)

X2 ;D ;D ;D
For the next generation, 6mtitmfhb (6mt in the mother fucking history books)
