lulz on other forums (current, not classics)

Great theory from them re: Audi product lineup influence. Sounds more like an excuse for being an upbadger. Pretty fucking lame I must say.

I don’t care if you do an engine swap and a widebody conversion. Don’t upbadge it, because it’s still not an RSx. Just enjoy what you have and quit trying to fool everyone.

The best part of these upbadging guys is that there are ttwo types of people in the world

  1. those who haven’t a fucking clue what an A6 vs S6 vs RS6 is, so no matter what badge is on the car, they just see an Audi (or just a car if they’re really not car people)

  2. those who know exactly what an A6 vs S6 vs RS6 is…and they will immediately know you’re a fraud

So you’re not impressing ANYONE with this shit. In fact you’re losing points.

I agree. Why not just tell the story of what your car actually is rather than having to say “Nope, it’s a fake, just has high speed low drag badges on it.”

My cousin did this to his A4 and badged it an RS4. He had added some body work stuff to give it a bit of an RS4 look but nothing performance wise. He didn’t know I had an RS4 at the time and he was pretty embarrassed about his fraudulence when he found out. I never said anything to him but he ended up de-badging it completely.

Then he bought an S4 but hasn’t played with the badge bs.

I put a laser/radar system in my dad’s RS7, company asked to make a thread of install on AZ.
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/572413-Suzuka-Grey-RS7-outfitted-with-Radar-Laser-defense-system

Thread turns into debate about why someone would delete the badges off an RS7. Vanityzine over there…

That’s a fantastically clean install by the way.

Great install! Love the kill switch under the shift boot! Clean!

How does a laser detector work? Isn’t it instant? I mean the second the cop points a laser at you, you’ve been nabbed no? Don’t know much how it works.

I must admit that is ONE clean install and yes, killswitch is pretty bad ass. You should drive through NoVA and let me test it against our lasers [:D]

[quote]Maybe he wanted it to be a total sleeper. Id so, should also take the grille RS7 off to complete the look:)

From the same guy who rebadged his car as an RS6…I hope he realizes the front RS7 grille badge hides the radar.

From my understanding of the system, cop hits you with the lazer, system warns you front right was hit, you then hit your kill switch to turn the system off (meanwhile the jammer shoot the lazer back at the gun at a ridiculous high speed jamming the gun, which means the cop has to psychically turn the gun off and on, and rescan you) by that time you’ve turned off the system, and are now doing the posted speed limit.

Although that’s a jammer, not a detector? Soo not 100% sure.

Without stirring a debate and getting technical; a trained traffic officer, whom uses his laser or radar daily, can generally tell when his instrument isn’t reading due to a jam…as for the detection method, line of sight is a valid argument for both sides. Again, a veteran traffic officer understands the flow of traffic better than most people so he can argue his side of the citation with better clarity and understanding to the judge.

In the great commonwealth of VA, detectors and jammers are illegal so the burden of proof has to be proven by the officer which means if he has to investigate why his instrument all of a sudden stops working on a particular car, he can.

Agreed. Beautiful work!

AKA look everywhere in the car for it?

Within reason but without infringing on ones fourth amendment aka can be seen with naked eye without prying, inside and out.

^^ damn my not being able to edit accessibility.

Nvm

haha ironically you just hit 150 so you can edit now

Haha this is lulz (the good kind

I think in Ontario they can rip your car to shreds if they suspect a hidden laser/radar jammer in your car. Not sure how they would prove that at the roadside though.

Fear the words “inventory the car” prior to an impound…just be mindful, once it gets to this point, you’re in for the long haul on more than just possession of a jammer/detection.

I hope a cop never gets a malfunction on his laser while pointing it at me. I certainly wouldn’t want my car impounded and ripped to shreds for them to find absolutely nothing.

Now, thinking out loud to myself here, what if the cops did rip the car to shreds and found nothing. Then what? Do they take any responsibility for destroying property?

I have the same kit (Minus the Bell I went with V1), the nice thing about the Laser system is it also has “parking” mode.Follow along with me:

I got stopped twice, once in Indiana because the cop didn’t know why he couldn’t pull my speed but assumed I was going fast: I was going 25 over, told him 12 over and he gave me a warning. Never mentioned being jammed.

Second the Cop had to assume I jammed him. I slowed down, killed it, passed the cop, V1 going off the entire time, he pulls out and pulls me over. Asks how fast, I told him 15 over (pretty normal in Chicago to go 65-70 with traffic and not have it be an issue), he said he wasn’t sure how fast because his Laser Gun wasn’t working and asked me why he thought that may be.

I honestly got a little palm sweat going, and just answered…Uhhhh I don’t know officer, I thought you pulled me over for going 15 over and assumed you got me and thats why I was being honest with my speed.

He asked if I had any devices that would interfere with his equipment and I said I have a radar detector, would that do it? -knowing full well it was my jammers, but trying to act dumb.

He walked to the front of my car and motioned for me to get out. Pointed at the units and said what are those for, I said parking sensors for the front of the car. He asked if they came on the car, I said no I had them added after I hit curbs and my garage one too many times.

Went back in the car, flipped the knob to “Parking Mode”, turned the car off and back on …“Parking Mode Activated”…looked at me like he knew I was indirectly calling him retarded. Told me to hang tight, came back with a warning…

When the knob is in Laser Protection mode and you turn the car on it say “Defense Mode Activated” FYI, funny to hear.

That’s the thing, unless the officer thinks you have something BEYOND a jammer like five pounds of cocaine stashed away within the confines of your car, the idea to “rip apart” your car to find a jammer/detection system is uncalled for and would be something the state frowns upon.

As I said, traffic officers in VA are different…most of the motor guys I know KNOW when they’re being jammed so they’ll find ways to get to the truth. It’s one of those pick your battle moments.

Laser bender is the nomenclature.

You are not jamming anything.

States try and pass laws against radar/ laser devices, but they are FCC compliant and therefore have federal preemption against any state jurisdiction.
