lulz on other forums (current, not classics)

The amateur mechanics are at it again.

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/541328-Quick-question-for-those-with-JHM-Tune/page5

Guy is saying his JHM tuned killed his engine. Problem is nothing about what he described can be attributed to something a tune would cause…and none of the other JHM tuned people have had anything remotely similar. It’s a case of an engine failing (as we have seen about 10 or 12 STOCK engines fail catastrophically in the past) and someone looking for something to blame for their misfortune.

A JHM-hating engineer from Borg Warner even posted in the thread explaining that there’s no way the tune could have caused this damage, and pointed to the guy’s poor choice in oil as a potential cause. Not even the right weight.

Still, the douchebags like badblue and flying tomatoes see an opportunity and pounce.

Best part is watching them dance around the APR RS4 tune adding zero (or losing) power and saying that you can’t complain about that because JHM never released a tune only dyno for their tune.

WHAT?

 1. someone asked if there is even ANY APR tune data…1/4 mile, dyno etc. It is indeed odd that nobody with an APR tune has ever taken their RS4 to the strip. I reckon they have, and we just haven’t heard about it. Bad numbers have a habit of being hidden from the spotlight.

 2. the JHM haters immediately jump in and say that there’s no JHM tune only data either , even though nobody asked for tune only data and they were asking about APR, not JHM.

 3. someone mentions our thread where we showed a few recent dyno runs with APR tune where the cars with the APR tune actually dyno’d less than identical modlist cars with no tune. That goes all but ignored.

It’s really classic deflection. Shows weakness. Best part is that for like the tenth fucking time, someone accused RS4elitist of being me. If I was RS4elitist I wouldn’t make spelling errors, and I would destroy these guys and their shitty arguments. Have they not been paying attention?

This quote was funny…referring to our APR tune adds no WHP on recent dyno results
That thread is interesting, but I would like to see the real dyno sheets. I believe someones point was that the APR tune helps throughout the power band. Plus APR has never been the most aggressive tune…on any audi…
Wait…so you’re saying that the APR RS4 tune adds power down low but not peak? Listen, I hate to break it to you…the JHM tune adds power EVERYWHERE. Good tunes do that.

Then you’re saying that APR has never been the most aggressive ? What does this have to do with anything? The cars LOST power. Sure they may have picked up 5 WTQ early in the curve. That’s what happens to EVERY RS4 when remove the torque limiter in 3rd gear and dyno it. The only time you would make an excuse for a tune not adding peak whp is when you’re struggling to support a shitty argument.

If we want to go back and look at JHM tune delta, let’s look at 034’s old dyno. Stock RS4s tended to dyno 320 when carbon cleaned. BenSTI dyno’d full 2.75" catless exhaust and no tune. 348 WHP. Mickf29 and Dan@JHM dyno’d 360-370 whp with full catless 2.75" exhaust and JHM tune. So JHM tune delta in that case was around 12-22 WHP.

This isn’t hard. If your tune is adding 0 top end…you’re not going much faster. Sure you might be gaining a smidgen of torque down low…great. Next time you race someone or accelerate your car, make sure to make it a rule to shift at 4000 RPM so you can be in your ‘powerband’.

I just quickly read the thread, is my math correct that the owner purchased used with 7K miles and had almost 73K miles on it with a Unitronic tune? He then puts exhaust and JHM tune on the car, drives 500 or so miles (2 weeks) and the engine dies, and everyone blames JHM?

Funny how people look for the easiest cause/correlation relationship.

The way I look at it, a properly calibrated tune will find the inherent weakness of a car more quickly, not cause the rapid failure.

My buddy spun a bearing on his 80K+ mile car this summer on the track. He didn’t go to the forums and blame his tuner or engine builder. You gotta pay to play.

Not sure if repost:

Pretty funny thread (lots of people taking a shit on it)

But but but… It’s so much easier to blame someone else… lol Some people just don’t get it…

a bunch of seattle guys already did a great job of this a while ago. Proper shotgun microphone and real decibel meter, rather than a shitty iPhone app.

p.s. it’s a funny thread though. I think people should post shit data for him like the one guy. Go post up and push him over the edge.

You could also ask him why he’s such a faggot for Roger Federer. Little known fact…the capital RF in SwankPeRFection is a tribute to Roger Federer (RF).

Someone should get Swank on here, would be fun no doubt.

No please don’t do that…

I found a picture of Swank

Doesn’t know how to use paragraphs, so I generally skip over everything he says. Some of his posts will literally take up the entire screen with no separation. Unreadable. Think I told him about it at some point.

LOL he is taking it so personally and lashing out at everyone.

From AZ
Stasis Revo is no more.
February 28, 2014 – RTK Technologies USA LLC has acquired the entire interest in RTK Technologies Limited, (trading as Revo Developments Ltd), from STaSIS Inc.

What’s to become of Stasis remains to be seen. Seeing that this new REVO company is moving into the previously occupied Stasis building leaves me with some doubts about the future of Stasis. I wouldn’t go putting all your eggs into some “warranty” that Stasis offers. Our preference is to avoid the TD1 flag altogether and maintaining your factory warranty. This can be done by removing the software prior to visiting a dealership.

I don’t see what the big deal is with that? The new co would assume all obligations of the former Stasis. In fact they already had. They are already one company. The nomenclature is irrelevant.

It’s like a ‘merger of equals’ that ends up changing from Simon Motorsports and William motorsports into Simon-William motorsports…and eventually Simon motorsports.
