Once again I drove 9 hours to visit friends. When I got there they planned to make a visit to the track (Which I was 100% unprepared for, and said fuck it I’ll run) M

Donte claims he wasn’t planning to hit the dragstrip? Claims he went to Michigan to see some buddies? Claims they sprung the dragstrip idea on him when he got there? That’s his reasoning for running 14.49 @ 97 miles an hr…aka the slowest EVER B6 S4 in history, thanks to his 2.7T swap

It’s nice to have a solid example of why to not use a 2.7t motor in a 4.2. At least he provided that. Also I don’t know if those pack of losers know this or not but that lame excuse makes no sense. When you have a car that makes good power you can drive to any track anywhere and run good numbers. You don’t need to do anything other then show up and run. Lol what a loser.

Apparently COBB is having issues with reprogramming the 981 Boxster

Therein lies the problem. It seems Cobb was fully aware the product they were releasing would not work with 100% of the 981s in the market. This information was not disclosed at the time of sale to the customer. While your product is new and the affected people may be a small percentage, this is information that should have been shared to the customer. It would be up to the customer at that point if they want to take a gamble to be one of the earliest customers to own the product and that they may potentially have an expensive paper weight on their desk for a few weeks while you get the issue resolved.

I think from a customer service standpoint it was a poor business decision to withhold this information. It would be the equivalent of a pharmaceutical company releasing a new drug without releasing all the possible side effects to the end user because it would only affect a small percentage of people. It seems like you released the product anyway so you can start capitalizing a return on your time invested in developing for the 981 and hoped that the affected people would be small and would not bark loud enough.

If one were to extrapolate the sample size from this forum of affected people versus happy customers who installed with no issues, I think the amount of affected users was much higher than you anticipated. I hope in the future when you release other products to different markets you would take that into consideration or at least offer a disclaimer.

Thank you for your input and I’ll readily admit that from an outside perspective, your opinion is completely justified and something many have expressed as well.

With the release an Accessport for any new application, even some of our best known applications (see the earlier comments in the thread regarding recent 2015 WRX support), there is always an inherent risk of encountering unsupported vehicles in the field. We do our absolute best to support every single vehicle we can upon release but sometimes, it’s just not feasible or possible to collect every ROM prior to release, or we’d never have any product to sell, and we’d no longer be in business at all. I assure you, the OEs are not exactly handing out ROM information on the sidewalk, and the collection of the needed information is done in as many different ways as we can possibly imagine and we’re always trying to find new/better/faster ways to access that information. Bottom line though, (just as occurs almost every year with new MY releases) sometimes we literally just have to wait until a car hits the streets with a new ROM for us to get access to the ROM. From there, adding support is always done as quickly as possible to keep our customers as happy as possible. Everyone at COBB is acutely aware of the negative feeling of spending money on something for their car, only to have it not work. It doesn’t matter WHY it doesn’t work, it just matters that it doesn’t. As I’ve mentioned previously, we pride ourselves on our customer service and we do our very best to cultivate and maintain our reputation as being one of the very best companies when it comes to customer service. The absolute last thing we are is a huge company, out to make money as quickly as possible, and leave people hanging (or sitting around with expensive paper weights).

Again, we’re doing the absolute best we can to get everyone waiting for support up and running as quickly as possible. I was really hoping to have some great news for you guys today but it’s looking like Monday at the earliest now. Obviously the last thing we want to do is have everyone wait, rush release of half-baked support, and then end up with even more issues. So, the best course of action now is to make sure we have all of our testing 100% completed and then get you guys all up and running without any more delays or hiccups.

Sean@apr just admitted they knew long ago it doesn’t work on the first generation DSG…but they continued to sell it to unsuspecting customers for $1000 a pop. In fact he was foolish enough to admit it doesn’t work on the forums lol.

Small claims court or any credit card challenge would have your money back in a heart beat .

Port flashing is great if it works but often enough it doesn’t. I’ve seen a near 100% success rate on pulling the ECU out and flashing it.
