Jail time for what? For speeding? How about her? Failure to yield the right of way at an intersection?
The evidence of eye witnesses that he was 'going over 100’is not taken as Gospel in court. These are not trained speed evaluators. These are citizens. Citizens who hear a loud as fuck V8 Audi with a catless 3" exhaust. Aka end of the world loud…these are people who drive quiet minivans.
We’ve all been accused of ’ speeding’ when we’re going 30 in 1st gear in a 30 zone in our neighbourhood. This I’m sure is an escalation of that. Traffic is going 40, he rips 2nd gear to 65 mph and she doesn’t see him.

This is so true on many levels; I was once told to slow down I was doing 20 in a 25mph zone lol, and eye witness testimony and accounts are very rarely accurate. Not to mention that one or both drivers may have not judged distances correctly (if either was seen by the other)
A good friend of mine was killed on the first of the year this year. It’s assumed to be a very similar situation but there were no witnesses. The woman that hit him also died. In the end the women was determined to be at fault by the police and insurance companies because she was doubling the speed limit. I think his family got a fairly large settlement as well. It’s really hard to judge if you have enough time or not when the person is doubling the speed limit. If he was trying to beat a red light, that just makes it even worse for him as that’s considered street racing since you’re essentially racing the light.

They’re actually pretty good at reconstruction. When they see a car that puts a 100 metre long skid on the road, then smashes the pigshit out of another car, they know 2 things
- it was going pretty fast when it hit the other car
- it shaved a lot of speed over the time it was skidding with the brakes slammed so that means it was going retarded fast before the incident
