Luxury SUV Options

My friend recently bought a cadillac srx. He loved the luxury features and didn’t think he would care about anything on the performance end. However after a couple months of ownership he’d rather spend a bit more and have a proper SUV with more power.

I suggested A 2011+ range rover or a cayenne. Range rover seems compelling as they are well priced when buying used and he probably would end up spending the same amount of money as he did on the srx. That being said I think the cayenne (gts or turbo) are really really nice, just a fair bit more $$.

I don’t know much of anything about that class of SUV though, thoughts?

I didn’t find the SRX’s particularly luxurious the last time I looked at one (~2 years ago). Does your friend need the SUV and power for towing?

They changed it a year or two ago. The older one was pretty blah, the new one is quite nice though. No, it probably won’t ever see a dirt road lol.

Range rover sport is great but can be nightmarish on repairs. Get it with a warranty.

Cayenne is a bit big-shot to me. Not a fan. Too flash. Love the new turbo ones though. They look and go incredible.

I think I would get a diesel something. Q funf maybe. If bigger Q7.

Or if u want something serious, get a Jeep SRT

I would go with range rover too…if you the best of both worlds its the best option. I may suggest that your friend look at a year model just after they launched the 5.0 v8…they sorted out most of the issues then…

New q7 is coming MY2015 and the renders look great…also rumoured to be shedding 700lbs! There is talk of the 4.0T being offered.

Saki I suggested Q7 right off the bat, but I think it doesn’t offer much right now in terms of performance.

If he gets a range it will be at least a 2011 so it would have warranty.

Daaaamn new Q7 looks interesting though, and it’s getting the TT v8

We test drove an srt before he got the srx, he didn’t like the interior.

Lol nothing wrong with wanting to go fast in a truck. Where’s euroswagr to back me up??

Jeep SRT8 is fast but you have to deal with 12mpg all the time.
Explorer with the ecoboost. Fast with a tune and still great MPG
I’ve always liked the Touareg. Kind of blah inside and out though. It looks like a generic grand cherokee

Get a used V10 TDI Touareg and be prepared to open wallet for maintenance

How big of an SUV does he need? The SQ5 is on the small side but I’ve read nothing but great reviews about it. Might be a little too new though as it’s not even out yet I think.

The q5 is a great truck with the 3.0T…I love ours. Peppy, comfy when you want it, handles good, has great Brembo brakes and pulls more than anything it competes with…4400lbs.

We’ll see. He liked the srx size so he might end up leaning towards a smaller sized suv. To be honest I’m guessing he will end up going with a Range.

stage II Q5. Best bang for the buck. Stock M3 Fast

SQ5 maybe even quicker when the tune and pulley come out for it

I just don’t ever want speed while I drive an suv . I want comfort, and fuel efficiency. I sure wouldn’t void the warranty on a new q5 in order to say I can beat a v6 accord or infiniti sedan from a roll. Who cares.
