Made a few passes today... new best mph but not ET...

Went to the strip today to make some passes… My buddy who bought my mustang and his father went… Good times as he is hooked… Couldn’t do to well because of the cold temps, wornout DR’s, bad prep, and still learning the car… He trapped in the mid 120’s but ran low 12’s… We only ran once and he had an issue on launch and shut down…

Anyway, ran a new best mph but not ET… 60’s weren’t the greatest and it cost me in ET even with the improved traps… I still need to go over the logs but I’ll send them to J and Tsivas to look at… Definetly saw 16+ psi and timing was still strong but I did have some pull… IAT’s were great…

My Car: 2010 Audi S4 - DSG with sports dif, 7,075 miles, 1/4 tank of gas, tools and spare removed

Mods: APR tune, APR pulley, LFC’s, miltek non-res exhaust, custom intake, APR CPS, front and rear sways, Alu Kruez, Brembo BBK, JHM LW rear rotors, BBS CHR’s, tire pressure 38F 34R

Conditions: 50F, 48% humidity, 30.61 BP… DA was 220… In 25 years of drag racing that was the 3rd highest BP I have ever seen… Ambient kPa was 99…

Here are the top 3 slips… All 119 traps and 11.7x times… Ran 6 times in total with 4 11.7x and 2 11.8x… I just couldn’t 60 ft the car… dropped the pressure twice but no dice… also got crowded and had to wait in the staging lines…

Weather permitting they will be open next Sat. so I will take another crack at it… Thought today would be the day but was meant to be… Questions/comments… I have some gopros I’ll post later…

LOL! yep no problem that bear still has it… He did have about 1000ft DA advantage… Thought I would run a better ET today just couldn’t hook hard… shame really as the conditions were great… Oh well… Oh yeah this car is very very consistent it’s a bracket race machine for sure… lol

As for miles yeah that is just how I am… Sold the 1999 Mustang GT this year with 19Kish and sold the 2000 S4 last year with 40Kish… The Jetta has 209K and the A4 80K… You can guess what I drive… I am just too anal about my toy cars and don’t drive them enough… Buying/ordering something soon so the S will see less and less mileage… Sad really as it’s a fun car to drive and is a total sleeper…

Ryan, Yes I used the 104 tune and ran Shell Advanced URT…

Banjo, Yeah I know I should have come up… Was a tough year for me with family stuff but I still should have come…

Nothing on order yet as I can’t figure out what I want… It will be a 2 door car though, no sedan as I am keeping the S4 as well… If I went sedan it would be a S6… If I knew the RS6 was coming I would probably wait for that but if it does maybe I’ll dump the S4 for that in a few years… Anyway, I really love the RS5, but really want a stick shift car… Also, if I am going to spend 80K I am inclined to spend a little more and go for the GTR… However, I am all over the board as I could see myself in a new Boss Mustang or GT500…

Yes it is a 1998 TDI Jetta… It was my moms car and she gave it to me right before she passed and couldn’t drive any longer… The best part is they lived in NC until about 1 year ago so the body is totally mint and it runs like a champ even with the miles… It’s actually fun to drive but redlines at like 4500rpm… lol

The RS5 is going be crazy with a supercharger. But this next car isn’t going to be a DD for you, is it?. I’d go for the GTR then. Did Clarkson liken it to driving a playstation? The Boss 302 is a cool car as well. When people ask how you afford the fancy car, point at the 98 Jetta TDI daily :smiley:

It is a complex little equation, flirting with epic density…you need the cold but you also need a nice splash of sunshine and no wind to get the surface nice and warm. So hard to get all the stars aligned.

It is interesting to look at the Apr sc RS4 on pump vs the pullied and tuned B8 on race results.

Pretty much identical. The blower is maxed out, so both cars are hitting a wall. Would be nice to see a fully modded APR guy hit the strip. The two times we have were from one pretty much stock rs4 that went 11.8@116-117 and then one with full exhaust and clutch that went 11.8 @ 118 on a hot night in the dirty d. Would like to see one with lw rotors and wheels and all the fixins run at density altitude near zero.

unfortunately we don’t hear much from the other Apr kit owners…and the one that went @118 doesn’t have the kit anymore :).

Saki, Yep you nailed it… BP was incredible and there was a little sun… just no heat to the track and the prep was not up to normal standard IMO… New dude was running the waterbox and would spray in front of them as well… I still was able to avoid the water but others weren’t so it didn’t help… Not making excuses by any means though… Hoping I get one more crack this year…

Yeah I would love to see what a more heavily modded RS4 with the TVS 1.32 would run… Key with that car is having a good driver since it is stick vs the point and shoot DSG we have… I honestly, would really like to see what a 6-speed B8 would run that has a clutch that can handle a hard launch and someone who can drive it… Hoping Arin takes his eventually… Good times either way and both awesome cars…

They don’t typically… Arin reached out to me and mentioned it so I asked if I could have it when my ecu made one of it’s trips, so they put it on… I believe Bear and I are the only ones with it… Reviewing the logs it doesn’t look much different than the 100 tune I am running timing wise… I should have switched at the track and tried the 100 and 104 on the same day, will do that if I get to run again this week…

The last thing APR needs is making that 104 file (or others like it) available to eveyrone. It was probably designed after reviewing logs of your car (PT) and then realizing that with your good fuel, there’s more in it. THey have to tune for the lowest common denominator normally. i.e. if they write a file to get everything out of primetime’s car in good altitude in good temps with a great supporting modlist and great fuel, it will inevitably end up on the car of some guy at 3000 feet altitude’s car in 90+ degree heat with a fully catted exhaust, running some ghetto race fuel (or a bad mixture where he miscalculates), resulting in a funny looking piston or a rod that’s about as strong as a boiled hot dog. Then everyone says ‘APR BLOWS MOTORS!!!’
