MAF

I just put on a new intake and my car idles poorly now and also my ESP is now on and wont shut off. i know it has something to do with the MAF when that stays on most of the time but i went ahead and checked for any leaks in the tubing/connections on the new intake and its all nice and snug. i hear a rattling coming from my throttle body which seemed weird. Anyways i ended up taking my MAF sensor out and just cleaning it with a Q-tip and my car is still screwing up. should i go buy MAF cleaner and see what happens or do some intakes just through the sensor off?

Also i cut thr MAF screen out like someone had suggested on the Zingo mod which was a complete fail i believe so buying a new one is another option of mine

Do you have VCD’s ? I think you can check if its functioning properly somewhere in there but not for certain how I just started using it . If yours is bad I have one that works I wouldn’t mind giving you a good deal on, if you didn’t want to buy new.

What kind of intake did you put on…? I hate to say it but you wasted your money if it’s anything I’ve seen.

Back on subject, I had MAF troubles as well with my old intake, first make sure your MAF is plugged in (I know, but I did it too) secondly, make sure it’s going th right direction. Third, if all those check out, take your entire MAF, a gallon zip lock, and rubbing alcohol and shake it up. When you put new filters on with oil it cakes up the MAF. Make sure it is completely dry before you plug it back in.

Do you have any pics of the intake?

Sorry fo the wait I went and saw the Avengers last night, which if you havent seen it you need to lol…Zingo, It’s a K&N filter with just some tubing i found at O’Rielley’s Auto Parts. I think that i get a better throttle response with this new intake but still with the capped off silencer. Maybe i had some air leaks in the zingo mod or something. Anyways ill try cleaning it off an ill get back to you guys.

yeah K&N filters are typically oiled, may have fouled the sensor

I thought so too, until I got tuned & saw my 1/4. Lol

Only thing their good for is the sound, and saying you did something custom. Lol they really just suck straight hot air from the engine bay. We probably had pretty damn near close "CAI"s.

Try the bag trick and see if that works out

So i cleaned the MAF with some stuff i bought at Autozone and my car is idling fine now but the ESP light is still on. It was fine up until i swapped intakes. so should i just go ahead an buy a new MAF or do i have any other options?

did you clear the codes?

no the last time this happened i just took a q-tip and cleaned the sensor off and the light just went away. i didnt think i would have to clear any codes

ill just take it to autozone and have them check the codes and see if that the actual problem or not

Cleaned the sensor again and unplugged the battery for 30 min, put everything back together and still the ESP light…im just going to buy a new one. Any suggestions on where i can buy the cheapest OEM MAF?
