Methanol Injection Install

Two things one should know about an Aquamist install. 8-12 hours and talk to Jeff before you order. He told me “usually” people tell him what kind of a car it is going in? My tech had to rewire the control box for my Audi, three hours. Jeff’s excuse was I didn’t tell him. Yet no where in the web page does it make a request for such information. Regardless, the bar graph starts illuminates, at least in my car, at 4000 RPM and quickly goes all the way across to almost full. Complex system but good quality gear. Tank has two joined compartments. The one with the pump is full of little ping pong sized balls with holes in them to prevent sloshing allowing easier pick up. The vertical bar in the tank is an illuminated site gauge and the box has a small fan in it. Allegedly Aquamist is the only system on the market one may run all methanol through. Also, if one gets really enthusiastic one may run an injector to each inlet since it’s, allegedly, the only one you can do so with?

So where are you spraying the meth? Pre-supercharger? Or directly into the ports?

I run 100% methanol ok whenever I feel like.

Alky Control FTW.

I’d love to see logs of your intake temperatures with and without the meth…

I wonder what the benefit of this relative to the charge cooler options out there are.

What was the ball-park cost for the system and install?

I’d be interested in this as well.

Most of these setups will spray after the supercharger. directly into the ports. Most of the heat is generated by the supercharger so you get hot air temps after, that is where you want to cool the air. Otherwise you are cooling, then the air will be reheated, and go in at nearly the same temperature.

100% meth is fine, I have done this on my Eurodyne Boost manager plus.

I run two nozzles, one post intercooler and one post throttle body this is on a b7 a4. I’ve seen IAT’s drop 40*'s past ambient. Meth is really quite nice.

Good stuff Ed! I assume you’re spraying pre blower like Jeff vs after… Any engine pics? Let’s gets some logs! Then regardless of what people say/think you’re contributing more useful information than probably 99% of them sharing those logs… Need some data though…

Inlet plugged no spray
Inlet plugged spray
Inlet open no spray
Inlet open spray

Move the rings to the proper location ;D

Mec, on these cars we’ve probably seen as many run pre as post… Gotta yank the blower and use spacer or plate to run the nozzles to go after so even though probably better not everyone went this route…

Agree on most of your post but I would think cooler air going into the blower helps some? No? Also, assuming tuning or 93 fuel running race tune for timing…

Good grief, they did it correctly! Yes, upstream of SC, two nozzles, I think different sizes. I’ll get pictures. Can’t move them but can paint them!

Picture of two nozzles, white plastic lines, installed at base of Roc Euro intake near SC intake at firewall. Don’t know size but can find out?

You’re spraying pre supercharger. Good way to do it. You’d have to ask the installer what jets he used. Plastic lines? Not to sure I’d like that.

I’ll call and get nozzle sizes, should have asked before I left. Thought same about plastic lines but they came with the kit. Not sure there is enough pressure to warrant stainless?

This is how Jeff is doing it I believe, he can probably give you some words of wisdom.

Please help me out, who’s Jeff? Thanks

Pre blower is how the cobra guys get the best results. The hottest thing will always be the blower rotors. Cooling them down makes a huge impact. You get much better atomization pre blower as well.

No reason for stainless lines going to the nozzles. The plastic line is fine. I sleeved mine so it blended in more. I did run stainless from the tank sine I’ve had problems in the past with the plastic.

Will have comparison logs later today.

Did 4 pulls last night. 2 pulls, back to back, gears 3-5, around 30-130. First pull no meth, second pull light spray, 93 tune.

Last 2 pulls same deal but from 2nd gear.

Will get them up as soon as I can. Going for cruise now

Went out with my son, a computer wiz (?), yesterday and attempted a bunch of logs. I have the wireless version, a mistake, and simply can’t find all the items listed above. I will try and get an education from VCDS Tech today and try again. Sent the in part logs to Ron. From what he wrote back no appreciable difference, from hole closed, hole open, hole open and meth injected runs.

Just talked to the tech that did the install. Claims he installed the biggest jets, 1.0 and .8 mm, but with small restrictors. He said he thought there was a 600-660 cc spray going in. Hope this makes sense? The tank/pump box in the trunk has a fan in it. We both assumed the fan only runs when the pump is actuated. I’ll call Aquamist to confirm.
