Milltek downpipe install

Hey gents!

  • As many of you know I bought some Milltek downpipes with failing HFC’s. I tried 6 different ways of drilling the cats out and could not. So I took a grinder to them & opened them up and removed the insides. Finally glad that is over!

My next questions is how do Milltek DP’s line up with an FI exhaust that necks down to 2.25." The millteks do neck down and so does my FI exhaust, but has anyone tried these two products together? Without modifying either set? I am looking to install in the next week or so, and would rather find out ahead of time if it wont work.

  • I have 2 sets of downpipes (For noise reasons - catless vs. main cats)
. Piggies (For emissions with main cat)
. Catless Millteks (For a loud exhaust)

-My FI exhaust necks down to 2.25" so I can easily swap between the 2 sets.

I would save yourself the hassle of doing it twice, and eliminate the neckdown on both. A good exhaust shop should be able to do this for you. $100 is the number thrown about most often but could be a bit more.

Since your piggies are 2.25, I would see if they can blow that out to mate up with the (now 2.5) catback when you go for emissions.

If it were me, I would just stick with piggies to FI necked down. My MPH barely changed when I went from piggies + necked down FI to full catless 2.5 to + not necked down FI. Considering you’re swapping between a WORSE application (you’ll have the 2.5 catless setup but WITH a neckdown to 2.25 if you do what you plan) I think it’ll be even less valuable. Add in the potential to get burned for emissions…and the hassle of swapping B6/7 downpipes every 2 years and snapping bolts etc…I’d just say fuck it.

I went 13.21 @ 107 on piggies. Cabracco went 12.89 @ 106 on piggies. JHM went 13.0 @ 106 on piggies.

I have 2 sets soley for noise not performance. The only reason I bought the 2.5" millteks and am hollowing out the cats is to have a louder exhaust. That is it.

My S4 only gets driven maybe 4-5 days a month total… and I just simply want it louder, so I have fully catless downpipes & piggies for when emissions rolls around.

I personally do not care about dyno #'s or 1/4 mile times. My car is a canyon cruiser. I drive canyons very aggressive and very hard and like having a loud rumbling v8 while doing it. My S4 is just a toy for me

Maddog has a solution if you want a louder exhaust that involves harnessing the power of lightening to weld it together… ;D

ITS ALIVE!!!

dude yo ushould have seen his exhaust in person. It was so haggard. Jay and Dan from JHM and CV were just staring at it when I arrived at madison’s supercharger install in Detroit. It was like they had just killed a dragon and were staring at it.

dumps would be awesome.

so anyone every tried to connect these 2 exhaust compenents?

Milltek DP’s to FI that necks down???
