More Air

Wow - this thread makes my head spin. I just can’t imagine ripping up my car like this.

Why not just wait it out? And what’s wrong with having the issue resolved by Christmas? That’s only a few months away.

Tell me what was ‘wrong’ in what I wrote?

Tell me what your goals are.

Tell me why you can’t wait for an APR DSG tune?

Sky,

I don’t get your thought process.

The FASTEST B8-8.5 S4s are running 11.6x and have not done ANY mods for air other than intakes and wrapping.

You clearly have other issues with the car and you want to cut your hood open, DOESNT make sense.

Solve your current problems first, run an 11.60, then cut your hood, listen to the members here.

Clouchner, I’ve been told it will be next year before APR has a DSG tune. I’m not the type of person that waits around for unfulfilled promises.

Saki, theft is a felony. Were charges ever pressed against Revo? My goal, into the 11’s. I’ve had my car flashed three times with APR’s product. Within in days the car loses torque. If APR fixes their problem great. If not Revo gets the business.

APR sued REVO over the matter, which resulted in some type of injunction against the REVO employees.

Legal papers here: http://www.goapr.com/revo/

Did APR ever receive an award?

Why the burden for APR whereas Revo just has to make you an empty promise to appease you and earn your seal of approval?

Dance with the one who brung you. Or who you brung. Quit being a tuner slut.

Yes. Injunctive relief. Not sure if there were any monetary damages.

Slut?

Gents, please take a look at the yellow airplane. I found that thing about 14 years ago in WI. It was a gutted, stripped, wingless, windowless hulk. It took two years to have built to my specs. After completion I installed seven different speed modifications. The two easiest to see are the fairings around the wheel brakes and at the exhaust stack. Each mod helped increase cruise speed just a little. I was finally able to achieve about 182 mph, not bad for a 1974 Cessna 185. Except for computers cars are much easier to work on and modify, no FAA permission required. This is my car and my hood. I find the name calling bizarre and childish. Thanks.

The car loosing torque is your OPINION. Do you have any evidence that stament is true? Everyone in the world of performance feels that their car gets slower, it’s because you get use to the torque…it doesn’t just go away!

If you want to go 11s, listen to the guys who have GONE 11s…especially the one that has done it probably 100 times.

Call me crazy but I’m with skywagon on this one.

I agree that the finial solution and best results will be from APR but when? After they’ve gotten the stage 3 kits sorted out? It’s been years now and still nothing. If the fella is willing to cut up his car only for the car to potentially be faster that’d expose just how committed he is to his wanted performance results.

My next question is why not GIAC? I read that one member on this site went in to the 11 zone in the newer S4. I see skywagon looking at REVO as a company that is at least doing something. it appears the best advice we can give is wait? He makes the point of wait for what? If APR is really telling him there’s nothing wrong with his car then what’s he waiting for other than the DSG tune that won’t be out for what? At least a year if not longer?

Let’s be honest here. Skywagon isn’t afraid to spend the money. He’s not afraid to cut up his car. He’s not afraid to drive to APR and let them look the car over and get their hands on his car.

The real question is will he get into the 11 zone without a DSG tune?

I think everyone is telling him not to spend another 1.2k on an unproven solution. But yea, the fact that APR seems to have a pretty long timetable on the B8.5 DSG tune is not encouraging. I agree with the guess that it comes out next spring.

If GIAC was more responsive I’d say that would be the easy decision, since their tune is easily the fastest on the B8.5, but they have been extremely quiet through this all this 2014 noise which isn’t inspiring. But REVO doesn’t seem to be the solution.

But if $1.2k is no object (highly doubt APR will refund him, since this well beyond their return window) and skywagon wants to be a trail blazer, then who really cares what he does. He seems beyond impatient, but w/e, his money his car. I’m tired of trying to give him advice lol

Would I do that? Fuck no! I’d at the very least wait to benchmark in better conditions and see how others do with REVO. Hell, there is a AZ guy with a 2014 S5 who ran 12.5 at a DA of like 2500 on APR stg 2…

no chance he runs 11.anything shifting at 6200 or 5900 RPM

I’d definitely say REVO isn’t the best idea. Especially when you consider the GIAC results.

With the APR DSG tune on a unknown timeline. Can’t skywagon just get the GIAC DSG tune and run the APR software?

Pretty sure GIAC DSG tune works only with GIAC ECU software.

I have absolutely nothing to support my opinion on this. However I think that’s just what they want you to think.

Interesting theory
