Ive seen this be the down fall on the 4.2 where strat actually ripped off several people and I agree that this is one more attempt to try and chash in on the new attepts on the 3.0 gang to make more power.
Lets start with this one.
This car could seriously benefit from headers.
then lest enjoy the responce from a one of the strong AR members. That actually did research before talking
Going with 2.25 for dp’s has just created a flow restriction. The exhaust manifold is not a bad design, and it has a 3 in to 1 collector and opens up to 2.5 inch. You are right about 1.9 inch opening on the dp but that is the opening of the cat not the exhaust manifold.
This engine really needs to breath, the reason it feels faster is you have removed the cats.
You really need test 2.5 dp’s and cat back and provide some actual data. 1/4 would work
Congrats to lout for knowing his shit. The need for headers or exhaust permaitors is set off a number of things. one of them is the kind of motor. A 6cyl V style motor with full runners that don’t share space are all that is needed. Adding headers on a 6cylinder isn’t going to gaion you as muich as getting those cats out of there
So the responce to this ownage that headers are not needed on the 3.0 was this
The manifold outlet did not appear to be that large- is there a possibility that the 3.2L is larger? Probably.
So john said that the car wouled benifit from headers but did the same thing they do with all there prioducts. they jjust guess and try to play it off as facts.
here is more BS
I felt that since the V8 guys are rocking out with the 2.5" with good results (dear b6joeS4, note that I am/have been in positive accord on that note!) and that if 2.5" flows proper for them, then its clearly going to be overkill on the V6.
Clearly going to be over kill tet they have done NO ZERO research into looking into anything. see guys this is what Im talking about. Strat a companty who knows dicjk and its been pointed out time after time. tryes to tall you what they think and then push it as fact. fact of the matter is. Several V6 cars do wqell with 2.5 and bigger.
fact of the matter is go read. John at strat will attack your questions and call you a jhm fan boy for actually demanding quality parts that made a difference. Strat hasn’t changed they have just become more desperate
