Motorcycles and You

Rode to work again today. After not street riding for 10 years, it’s something I realize I missed a bit.

I took a break for about 2 years, bought a Honda Sporttrax quad (new for some stupid price), thinking that would somewhat replicate street riding, ended up selling it for like $2500 with 12 hours on it 2 or 3 years later.

I think I found an alternative to the NightRod Special/VRod as my first bike, a Harley Davidson Softail Breakout…

I just found out one of my neighbors just bought one. When he started it, I came out like a kid drawn to an ice cream truck in the heat of summer; sounded effing sexy as efff!

Completely cool dude, a few screws loose upstairs but none the less a cool dude…a fellow Veteran, Army dog.

the rear tires are just mental. Wider than my car.

Haha, I think the idea behind the wider tires is for the drag strip. According to my new found Veteran friend, these type of bikes are meant for the drag, sorta like the crotchrocket versions; 1200cc’s on 650lbs of steel should be fun.

I’ve always wanted a motorbike. Don’t have space for one right now. That and it rains a lot here lol.

I think the Night Rod is a bad ass looking bike. Don’t know much else apart from that (and they seem heavy lol).

I do like Ducatis as well. Like the Streetfighter and the Diavel. I also think the Scrambler is kinda cool too.

As common in South East Asia, I learned how to ride a motorbike in high school (dinky little underbone motorbikes) but was never licensed. LOL the smallest I ever rode was a 70cc one - when riding with my friend, whoever was riding in the back had to hop off and run along side when going up steeper hills since it couldn’t make it up the steeper hills (we’d “gun” it as fast as we could before hitting the hill - hop off as it slowed down - hop back on as we were about to clear the ‘hump’ without stopping).

I rented a V rod a couple times in florida…kept burning my damn leg on the pipe…twice goddamn it. Wasn’t fun to ride fast…but fun to keep going up and down 10 mph to hear the motor under load.

Was fun to cruise around in. like 20-30 mph speeds downtown. Can’t say I’d like to take it on a trip or anything…but I guess for any bike I feel the same way.

I still don’t get the belt drive thing with the Harleys.

Has to do with heavy flywheels, uneven firing order (power impulses), and the fact that the belt will stretch/give a little whereas a chain doesn’t like that environment at all.

Yeah I figured a cush drive takes care of that. Maybe not though.

Cadwell Park jump is awesome.

Always wanted a ducati monster…I haven’t ridden in years, used to ride my buddies r6 and r1; the r1 was scary fast. Girl friend is in medical industry and refuses to let me ride again due to all the issues she sees in the ER…

Jesus, just watching the squirrelness of the rear wheels on impact makes my mind boggle at how much control these dudes have with their bikes. If it were me, I’d be on the pavement riding my ass into a curb.

I’m taking a motorcycle riding course in November AGAINST wifey’s wishes so we’ll see where that goes ;D

Question for the riders out there…about how much are you guys paying in insurance (per month)?

About $600, in Ontario - 1000cc sportbike, 20 years clean record.

Did ANYONE catch the Phillip Island race just now. Best racing in 2015 - maybe best racing I’ve seen ever, without crashes or dirty riding.

look for it here tomorrow or the next day http://motolink.website/index.htm

$250 every 6 months - 2006 R6 - Full Coverage

Rossi is a cunt. Good for him he threw it away.
