Mr. Leaky Rings, I hate you right now...

I’m sure everyone is sick by now of hearing these updates/problems but I feel like the more I post the more we all learn so here we go…

Got the car back from the dealer 700 miles ago, tore the whole block apart, dropped the transmission the whole shebang. Dealer opted not to replace the short block instead went with a complete piston re-ring and carbon clean. Driving along today oil light came on, let me repeat after only 700 miles… How much oil does this car have to burn for the light to come on?? 2 quarts? I know its burning way too much no doubt about that. So my question is is if they just re-ringed the engine where the hell could all this oil be going? There must be some catastrophic internal leak somewhere.

Also the transmission is becoming harder and harder to shift through gears, at first it was only from 3rd to 4th, now today i noticed my first grind from 5th to 6th… You go to throw it from 2nd to 3rd and you have to press the clutch, push it up into neutral, keep pushing and waiting for it to finally go into 3rd, sometimes there is enough time where the RPMS will fall down to idle and you have to gas it back up to stay smooth… Just seems like one headache after another with this thing…

Any thoughts?

try keeping everything in one thread rather than a new thread every day for the same problem. Less clutter, and more consolidated information that way. People want to help but if they have to make a commitment to bounce around among 4 threads and go back and forth, you’ll lose interest.

You may also want to take the time to reply to the questions asked in your threads. There are several that you haven’t. Your previous transmission complaint thread has a dozen posts after your last one, but no followup from you. I have no idea why you’re bringing up the transmission issue in here, when you have a whole thread on page 1 titled ‘3rd or 4th gear issues’, started 5 days ago.

^touche and ^^touche. I will keep everything in one post. My apologies. I just forget how connected and dedicated this whole RS4 family is. Car is going back to the dealer and I promise to keep everyone posted.
