Hey guys, thanks for all of your help with my questions about the JHM tune.
Has anybody done a muffler delete mod on their 3.0L A4? If so, what does it sound like and what type of straight pipes did you put on? 2"? 2.5"? I figure this would at least take away 50 pounds.
My stock exhaust is kinda jacked so I made an attempt to do just a muffler and res removal. My Res is rusted and in real bad shape.
I removed both of them and left the basically stock 2" pipe with no mufflers or res. Sounded kinda ricer to me so I went and got a dynomax muffler. It sounds kinda ok… kinda. I have a few clips on my old Cel phone Ill see If I can dig em up and load them on here.
I think once I get my JHM Dp’s on Im going to either get a magnaflow 2.5 cat back or get something close to that.
Going 2.5 will bring the deep tone out and help give the car a little more agressive note. Right now with the small 6 it kinda sounds like a bmw M3. NOW thats not a bad thing cause the old 3.0 M3’s had a unique sound. Its just not what I was looking for.
im running a straight pipe on my a4 3.0 6 speed. it is really loud. nextb is to gut my cats for the tune.
I would love to hear what that sounds like. Especially before and after your cats are removed. If you can please take some video and host it here.
i will defnitley try to make a video for you before and after. i may have to do some resognators when i gutt the cats. ill be getting the tune hopefully this week so maybe post a video in about a week.
You still have your resonator in right now with the straight piping right? Can I hear it?
yeahh i have to get something with good sound quality tho all i have is my cell phone rite noww. and no i dont have any resognators in rite now. its really really loud. so with no cats i am afraid to see what that sounds like haha btw im running 2.5in piping
I would love to hear this. The 2.5 isn’t going to make too large of an impact depending on how far back it starts as the first part of the exhaust is in the 2" range. Still I want to hear this lol lol The 3.0 has a very unique sound

Yeah the first video is my car. That was with stock downpipes, 2.5" piping with an x-pipe and 2 12" louvered core resonators. Very R32-esque
