My 2004 RS6

Sick, wicked and nasty. Great story and ride. Congrats.

Congrats on your purchase sir. That’s one fast veeeehickle. Try to keep it sunny side up. ;D

Any timeslips from your time owning that car?

First fats run in the rs6. Not bad. No tuning has been done yet.

How is an rs6 fats run relevant? I. E. What are you comparing it to to determine that it is not bad?

I think a rip from 30-100 using a pbox would be more relevant personally. Fats is a weird as rpm range test for the b5s4 and its gearing… And it’s deliberately high in rpms to accommodate the weaker tuners who couldn’t disable the torque/throttle limiter below 4000. All around a useless test.

The b7 rs4 guys test 3000-8000 rpm to get a look at a full gear. Others like 60-130. Fats though… I don’t see the point. Especially other trying to test it on other platforms. Your tire size alone throws it way off even if you have a six speed 01e. Unless you run b5 225 tires or something… Which I highly doubt.

If you want to run a killer fats time just run a tiny wheel/tire combo, diameter wise. Again one of the reasons these rpm tests are kinda suspect.

2.8 on a Count Vohn base file with 1/2 a tank more in gas. Not even close to being started on the tune!

Didn’t get a chance to snap a pic but I just did 2 more pulls on a 1/4 tank of 93 with about 4 gallons of q16 added to it.

2.4 fats both pulls. I was shocked.

I still don’t get it… Are you shocked because on a b5 2.4 is fast? Or because on an rs6 it is.

I asked earlier but how is fats a relevant benchmark? I. E. Is it the same exact gearing and tire size? (which is also funny… B5 guys go by fats as the bible but never discuss their tire size)

Corbett, go do some pulls with your bud 8URV8. You have any plans to make some 1/4 mile passes?

The first one I posted was a baseline. 2.9

Now we have something to go off of to see what gains are being made.

I do plan to go to the track a few times. We have a lot more stuff we want to do before then.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from JHM.

Lightweight rotors front and rear
In car mbc
Intake spacers

Also put in a 6lb lithium ion battery

Have a wideband that needs to be installed

New pads when we do the rotors

Also we are going to try to get to the wastegates to preload them all the way down or replace them with externals.

Can’t wait to see what the count can squeeze out of this beast. Sounds like you’re on the right track Corbett.

Haha, just now reading this story, but damn that’s pretty funny and what a lucky find. Make sure it goes to someone good when you’re tired of it!

I think most everyone here wanted/wants an RS6 at some point, but most of us like having the 3 pedals on the floor. The 6-speed swap is always an option, but usually more effort than its worth when it comes to fighting little gremlins and small details etc. But it sounds like you may have been lucky to have someone else spend big bucks to do it all right and have a proper 6-speed swap!

Gotcha.

Would be good to get a stock rs6 baseline. I’m assuming 4.5 seconds or so

Funny thing is your baseline is a monster rs6 lol

impressive results. Start with 2.9 now with better gas 2.4. Thats almost .6 of a second in one gear. The rs6 isnt exactly a light car either. It is not that I didnt like your yellow car but I think this car is much better. what a great combo. 2.4 or even 2.8 as a start is like 10 thousand in mods for a B5 just to get there and that is where you start here.

Thanks Jusin,

I do agree, even the rs6 feels lightyears ahead of the b5 s4s I loved so much. She’s definitely pulling hard right now can’t wait to see where we end up.

Ultimately when I sell off the rest of my b5s I really really want to build a motor for the rs6 with even larger turbos. Then just drop it in the car when done and keep the current motor as a spare. I really want to build something inspired by the rs6 sportmile over in Europe.

The RS6 needs a hero. Such a neglected platform over here.

Hah I know. The automatic really limits it. Even the guys with the level 10 transmissions still have issues and let’s be honest, it’s take a lot of fun out of it.

I’m hoping we can get this thing into low 11s before the build. I know that’s asking a lot but I’m told by 10secondmarc this car beat his 11.5 car from a roll by 3 cars or so. We shall see. I plan on a few track visits before the end if the year, I don’t expect the first few to go very well as this clutch is absolutely insane and I have yet to launch the car. It engages right at the top and is extremely heavy. We think its an unsprung clutch but will never know until its time to replace it. The first visit will probably be more focused on figuring out how to launch it. I’d live to get another 1.60 60ft. Same wheels and tires from the car I did that previously are on this car when I race around. I have a set of 19x9 front 19x10 rear ADV.1s now for cruising.

I take it nothing ever came of the S4 (or was it rs4? guy) that was having a shop transplant a RS6 motor into it with full build? They were going for a million horsepower or whatever. I thought it was abandoned after a year, but then more info was posted. But it seems like that was a year ago now.

yes that seems to have died. He switched shops half way through…and right about now shop 2 is probably finding out why.
