Hi Everyone,
Short intro, from South Africa, been an active reader on AR for a year or two, maybe three, and my 1st name is Rudi.
Now, I know that there have been a few RS4 Stage 1 Supercharger build threads over the past few years on AR but I figured given that mine is a RHD with a few things done differently compared to SAR’s in the UK it make sense to make another RHD built thread.
I started talking to JHM about 2 years back but only pulled the trigger late December 2015 and the package arrived in January 2016. I also included the JHM Oil Cooler line upgrade, the 3R Series lightweight flywheel and clutch and combo, 034 Engine, Torque and Transmission mounts.
To be honest, when all arrived and I started unpacking everything I was to say the least a bit overwhelmed when I realized that I somehow had to fit all those parts to the car. My initial plans were to outsource that to a shop to do the build for me but in the end decided against it and just knew that this was something I had to do myself.
Some history on the car, 2008 Misano Red with around 41k miles on the clock. Prior to the Stage 1 build I replaced all the control arms, Back & front rotors, brake pads and also installed a KW adjustable spring kit which allowed me to retain the DRC system. This was done in December 2014. During 2015 I re-covered the Recaro Buckets and did a few other small things. So basically the next logical step for me was to go the supercharger route as I have made the decision that the car is a keeper.
I also fitted 2.75" DP’s and exhaust and literally drove the car from the shop to my garage, parked it and the next day, March 27, the stripping started. I mainly worked over weekends and the install took me just about 4 months from start to finish. The installation has just been completed and the 1st start was about a week ago. So still have to sort out one or two small things with the AC re-gas one of the outstanding items.
I had the help of a buddy that came over to assist with the things where an extra pair of hands were needed but apart from that the rest was done by myself.
Also a big thank you to the guys at JHM, Jake & Dru which were extremely help-full through-out all of this.
So lets get the ball rolling and I will probably post the build over a few days, apologies in advance if I leave some things out or post things out of order etc. but give me a shout and I will try to fix.
Oh, by the way, the Clutch still needs to be done but I will need a shop to assist with that I just don’t have the facilities to do that at the house.
First things first, the package.
All neatly packed with plenty of protection.

Bumper was pulled off lights removed, so far so good no problem. Made a point to Bag & Tag every bolt.nut & screw I removed and that paid of big time when it came to assembly time.

OEM pulley removed and ready for the new JHM lightweight one, what a huge different in weight. The new pulley was so light it didn’t even registered a reading on my scale. ;D

Next up was the new check valve install between the manifold and the oil seperator, figured that whilst I am busy let’s replace the PCV, what a ball ache, just couldn’t get that sucker off and had to pull the intake manifold which remind me, forgot to mentioned that I also had a CC done about 180 miles prior to the Stage 1 install.
Damn, almost midnight down here so it’s way past my bedtime, been a long day, will pick it up again tomorrow.
Goodnight everyone.
