my last year and a half

My ruckus lol

These are the stories that make me want to unload my car after replacing most if my timing gear. I’m just always afraid that I missed a part or some other small decision that I made could come back to bite me in the ass.

Good luck with your sale. Much love for a fellow DG S4.

Thanks for throwing in there that I couldn’t break into the 12s that day…jerk!

Good luck though man, let me know when you need my timing tools or a hand.

pwnt!^^

Oil change at 700 miles? That’s bullshit

Exactly and sorry man I’ll call you today

Excuse my ignorance, why is a 700 mile initial oil change bs?

When I was breaking in an engine on a different car I changed the oil after 500 hours, so I’m just curious what the accepted/recommended procedure is with an Audi.

It wasn’t a rebuild and it was a used head so what break in would really be needed?

The oil change thing is pure BS and a shops excuse to not fix their mistakes. I personally wouldn’t have let them have the car ever again.

I actually picked up my motor from the shop after they tore down my motor and one of my heads and asked if my car was tuned. I said yes it is JHM tuned and they immediately had something to say about JHM and the tune was a possible cause of my bad valve stem seals! I was really annoyed by the comments and told them not to touch another thing. I picked the bitch up and rebuilt the heads myself.

If it was a completely brand new motor? Sure. But even that is debatable. There doesn’t seem to be a set-in-stone way to break in an Alusil motor.

We need our resident motor break-in expert BenSTi in here.

Haha…I spit some of my drink out…it’s funny to see different engine builders recommend different ways to break in a motor. I’ve seen some guys recommending driving it like you stole the damn thing.

Yea, I have heard arguments that vary drastically on that subject.

Other than the heads, wasn’t an exhaust cam also replaced?

My thought would be that any time you put new parts inside an engine, you want to do an initial oil change at a very short interval to drain out the oil which may be contaminated from the break-in and wearing of the parts.

Correct the cam was replaced along with two rocker arms the heads the are the same. And if it was a new parts or used breakin oil ok but they only used Mobil 1 oil cant think of the weight off hand but yeah it was fine and the oil was still clear gwen I pulled the pan so I really don’t think that was the issue at all

Well whatever the issue that got you to this point, I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t get better service from that shop because of the owner. I hope things will work out to your benefit somehow in the end.

well we shall see. hopefully on saturday the car will be running and driving so who knows lol and after seeing jhm’s heads im thinking lol

Haha, yea ‘thinking’ can get expensive real quick.

Yes it can but we shall see it might still sell lol

ryan sucks kepe teh car at this point you have tons of time into it and all the work you have done is just helpiong adress the issues with the car. Now all the work is done.

Expect the head casting issue bad the possibility or valve seals going and piston ring issues tg e has 120k how much more do you think it’s got left in it

hahhaha - reading Chris and Ryan posting back and forth is giving me a headache ;D. I feel like we should chip in and send you two smart phones with full qwerty keyboards and spellcheck. Just mess’n with y’all.

Haha, sometimes I wonder if Ryan on the forum is the same guy I’ve met in person and have had numerous phone conversations with because I can’t understand a thing that he types.

Hopefully they understand each other…haha that is all that matters
