So, my goal is to have the S6 drive pretty much like my current A6 4.2 project. Well, I calculated the approximate replacement cost of all the parts on my A6 and came up with this (prices are higher than MSRP in some cases due to import costs to Canada):
RS6 side skirts - $800
6speed kit - $2800
clutch/fw - $1200
JHM ss - $300
LWCP - $200
shift knob - $100
RS6 bumper (not installed yet) - $800
H&R coilovers - $1500
HR swaybar - $250
034 motormnts - $100
Magnaflow Catback - $800
hiflow cats $200
Milltech downpips -$700
All-weather mats - $100
RS4 wheels & snow tires - $1500
R8 summer rims - $1000
4.2 engine with S8 heads (port&polished) and S8 intake - $4000
$16250
Then, there are some parts that I would sell from the old A6, and S6
A6
Recaro seats and door cards $3000
LED taillights - $200
RS6 spoiler - $300
2000 A6 4.2 ECU JHM manual tune $500
Hood - $200
F&R Bumpers - $400
Headlights - $500
Miscellaneous parts - $500
$5600
S6
Front bumper - $200
Engine - $1500
18" OEM wheels/tires - $600
$2300
Then there are the parts that I would keep for future install
Rear calipers/rotors - $400
Front control arms - $600
$1000
So, this is the point:
I cant afford to keep both cars
To get the A6 project finished, I need a full paint job (min $6500) and other stuff
The A6 is already worth more in parts than what I can sell it for. I would be hard pressed to get $13000, just because modded cars are hard to sell. Plus, RS6s are now starting in the mid-teens, and look exactly the same but have way more power
Selling some of the A6 componets should be more than enough to pay for the labor of swapping the stuff to the S6
The S6 will always be a rare car, and is a better 'investment' (LOL) in terms of a car to mod
So, bottom line… it looks like I will transfer most of the A6 stuff over to the S6 and sell off the remainder. When I got the S6, I never thought it would be the death of my A6, but it looks like this is the only way that makes financial sense. At least the core of the A6 will live on in a nicer body.
