my quest for the 12's

Ok so saturday i woke up early to head to the track and to try to best my time! so on the way down (1 hour drive) i had a black mercedes c230 try to race me lol epic FAIL! so we slowed down, I asked him about his car and he told me it was a v6 5-liter twin turbo swap and fast. Turns out it wasnt cause I pulled him by like 4 cars from a roll lol. Then, due to his lack of attetion to the road he slammed into the back of one of those donk things (80’s caprice on 26’s and some super dumb paint job).

So i finially get to the track planning to run a test and tune pass then run true street. so after like two hours of being there waiting for them to let us make some passes. i get to as i pull up the staging lanes the cars temp was just above cold warmed up though. the temp out side was low 50’s and the windows were up and ESP was off. i pull up pre stage then stage and hit full launch control and bang! the car rolls a few feet and stops every time the car was in gear it made a awful clunking noise. Assuming the worst I thought the center diff went!!! so i get it off the line jack it up pull the drivers front wheel off. and grab the axel. and its utterly fucked!!!.

So after 45 minutes of sitting on the phone i find a parts store with the axel in but its 3 hours away!!! so i go for a drive to get it and it blew ass but thanks to my friend it happened. so i get back at like 6pm. two hours after the track closed and a guy that works at the track helped me change it there and had all the sweet specialty tools to fix this huge issue.so around 830pm it was finished and moving thank god!!!

So now on the way back I stop at a gas station grab some food and wash off the stupid reminder of my wasted 35 bucks to race. So while there I guess there is a car meet of some sort and the all star talking about my car, I ignore them after having probly the shittest day ever. I leave there and I get a black srt-4 trying run so i do and win. Then a black mustang tries his luck and i pulled away like 2 cars while eating a double cheese burger lol.

So long story short I saw a mercedes crash (literaly destroying the competition). lol i broke my axle. Fixed that then ate mcdonalds while smoking a srt-4 and a mustang. All to get home and then be talked to about my super expensive homewrecker of a car.

ALL IN A DAYS WORK!!! NEXT WEEKEND AUTOCROSS!!!

the images in my mind throughout that story were fucking weird. Like a weird ass dream. Probably the weirdest story line of AR history

Sucks about the axle, it probably would not be a bad idea to change all of them I’m thinkin.

I wouldnt bother, just buy the replacements and go try to break the ones on there lol… they’re easier to remove in two piece anyways

Didn’t realize there’s only 6 12 second b6/b7’s, so I guess v8s4ryan was the 6th officially as far as the forums go right? Im going to Texas motorplex on May 11th as long as work issues don’t come up, I really feel like I won’t make 12.9, but you never know…

Sucks about the axles btw, you must be really launching it!

I was talking about all motor though, I know some of those are supercharged/nitrous’d. Believe it or not ryans4V8 you are not the only one with Nexens, lol. Prior owner of my car had Nexens on it too, can’t remember which ones they are though. They are ok, but tread is kind of low and I’ll probably go for some hankook v12’s for my next tire.

btw, friend next door got a '12 S4 loaner car while his car was in the shop. We ran about 4 0-100+ runs and I won everytime, even the last time when I had switched ESP on for a little highway high speed stint, and then we stopped at a light and i forgot to turn it off. He blew past past me off the line bc of that but I pretty much instantly ran him down and passed him around 60 and put about 3-4 car lengths up to about 110-120.

His car had the s-tronic no DSG, base model, no sports diff either so not sure how much of a difference those 2 features make on a stock S4. I couldn’t believe they had a S4 for loaner, but it was a base model with only Nav, carbon fiber inlays and 19" peelers. Still had a sticker of 53k, lol.

s-tronic is DSG

the s-tronic cars are slower than the manual cars. In cool temps, my old S4 (jhm tune, full exhaust) could handle the DSG cars (1-2 car lengths) but the manual stock B8 S4s were pretty much dead even.

I’ve went back and forth about upgrading, but they sound gay…I’m never gonna get rid of my B7, I’m keeping her just because she sounds amazing.
