my wagon is dead !!!

Ever since my old C5 S6 wagon, I have been a huge fan of the Audi wagons. As you may, or may not know, Audi has stopped importing most of them to North America, starting about 8 years ago. I think the only one left that they sell now is the Allroad, and Im not a huge fan of the tacked on body pieces.

Anyway… our 2006 B7 2.0t wagon had served us well. Last week, while my Wife was on the way to work, she was rear ended. The damage didnt look crazy bad, but it was enough for a $5k CAD quote, and the car was only worth $5k. So, insurance has written it off.

The day they called me and told me it would be a writeoff, I was kind of relieved. I had planned some more work on the car before it was hit, but was wondering if I should proceed, considering the age of the car. Well, the decision was made for me.

I wasted no time and started scanning Autotrader and Kijiji for another wagon. I came accross the ultra-rare 3.0t C6 A6 wagon, and put down a deposit on the same day. Few days later, and we had the car at home.

For those that know me and my v10 S6, you can probably guess what is coming next

I wont be going all out on this one like the S6, as it will be my Wife’s daily driver. But, I would like to do a pulley and a tune, to give it some extra power. Then see how it stacks up to my modded v10.

Guess who’s back… back again… Mike is back, tell a friend! Lol. Well, I’m glad you were able to turn a negative into a positive! That A6 looks beautiful, however I’m still on the fence about avants!

But hey, who knows… maybe Audi will bring them back:

LOL… thanks for the warm welcome !

Avants seem to be either a ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ type of thing. I remember when I first got my C5 A6 4.2, I couldn’t for the life of me, understand why Audi would import the C5 S6 only in a ‘station wagon???’ to North America. It made zero sense to me… until I finally got one and then it all made sense.

a 3.0T with a tune and pulley swap might be close performance wise to the v10 (and get way better mpg, lol). but no v10 sound

grats on the new ride, looks great!

Yes, very true. And the S6 has all kinds of stuff over the A6 that would be expensive to swap over. Seats and front fenders/bumper being the biggest.

I didnt realize just how fast my S6 was, until I pushed the A6. Stock vs stock, they might be in the same ballpark… but the v10 with headers/tune is crazy fast compared to the 3.0t. I guess its not really a fair comparison until the 3.0t is modded, as well.

I have a guess for what comes next: JHM Tune, exhaust, lightweight crank pulley, lightweight wheels, and THEN I BUY IT. ;D

You have serious good luck with owning the rare wagons. The North American white S6 avant you had was basically a unicorn car.

Wagons are where it’s at. Guess what Price Harry drives? An RS6 wagon! I’d drive one too if you could get them in North America, but mine would be a few years older than Prince Harry’s

whooooo hoo… Good to see you back. man kinda crap about the wife getting rear ended. Looks not too bad…

The new wag looks nice but kinda blaa… You need to spice it up a bit… It looks overly plain… The good news is that 3.0T motor is a healthy monster. What kind of transmission… I assume a ZF… Check the maintenance on the car. Those cars are notorious for water pump failures. If it fails it can do real damage to the motor.

Glad to see the old gang is still here !!!

Justin… Ill have to check on the trans… just assumed it was a ZF. And Ill take your advice and check on the waterpump

Boat… long time! Ill get this one ready for you

Funny story about the old S6 wagon… after you sold it it ended up back in Ontario. I happened to see it listed for sale one day on Kijiji. The guy was asking double what you bought it for !!!

I made him an offer, and he wasnt really flexible on price. I started chatting with him, and ended up correcting him on some of the things that he told me about the car. I knew the car better than him… LOL. I miss that car… it was definitely something special.

Yeah the guy who bought the S6 wagon was in a big rush to fly out from Ontario to buy it from me. He said he had a squished RS6 in storage for a couple of years that he wanted to transplant into the S6 wagon if he could find a nice enough S6 at a reasonable price.

It was a decent idea for you to make him an offer - I poured some serious cash into that car to get it ready for the Vortech supercharger upgrade, and then I cancelled the build last minute, in favor of a B7 S4 instead, because of the extra gear (six speed automatic in B7 S4 versus five speed automatic in C5 S6). I even fixed stupid unnecessary stuff in that S6, like the third brake light above the back window which was a couple hundred bucks I think. But yeah we found a white B7 S4 wagon in great condition down in Eastern USA with the solid black seats that I wanted (I did not really want Alcantara theft magnet), plus it had the walnut wood grain interior trim. Like an old Buick lol. Just like I woulda wanted it from the factory, so we supercharged the B7 S4 instead. And then I put used 17" B7 A4 Kijiji rims on it with some winter tires, which I usually have on the car like ten months out of the year. Love the sleeper look lol.

It really realllly feels like the C5 A6 to me. I had a B6 A4 1.8Turbo Avant, and then of course the C5 S6 Avant, and a C5 A6 parts car, the B7 S4 feels (like the steering and everything) most like the A6/S6.

And hey v8a6 if you ever end up with a set of RPF1’s again, and if you want them to look factory, then I did a Enkei RPF1 center cap DIY write up in the DIY section of the forum, for making Audi center caps. I know you love lightweight wheels lol. Did you have a set of Enkei’s? Or were they OZ wheels? Second guessing myself…

Anyhoo I hope Audi brings the RS6 to North America!

Both front tires were bad on the car, so took the opportunity to swap in a new set of wheels.
