need help on parts for the s6

Hey guys so i need to replace all front control arms on the s6 2007, can anyone point me in the right direction for the best deal.

also i would like to get the rotors, pads and brake lines done, please send me any link you may have for this.I am looking for an upgraded pad, steel brake line and drilled rotors.

i would really appreciate your input.

I need control arms as well. They are the same as the ones used on C6 A6’s. I found some on Amazon for $87 with free shipping:

http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-520-978-Control-Arm/dp/B002YC2JTC

The same part number is used for both Left and Right, so you will need to buy 2 of them to do both sides.

I also need Tie Rod Ends, which Les Schwab quoted me at $77 each side plus installation cost, but I found the same ones they quoted me for $19.99 each on Amazon. You can also get some better ones on Amazon for around $40 each side. Again, the same part number is used on both sides. A4’s, A6’s, A8, and S models of those cars all use the same tie rod ends.

For brakes, people seem to like EBC’s stuff. TireRack and Amazon both carry the full line. Redstuff pads are great, but be aware that they work best when they are HOT… for daily driving, Yellowstuff pads are probably better. I think my discs are EBC, but they were there when I bought the car so I’m not sure. I used EBC pads and discs on my old WRX though, and they were great.

Here are some Stoptech braided lines for $46, one pack does both front L and R:

As a general tip, plug your car information into your amazon account, and you can browse and do searches for parts that specifically fit your car. Parts.com also has almost every part you could ever need for an S6, but not always the best prices. Use Audi’s parts website to find the part number you need, and do a google search on the part number to find the best prices. That’s what I do (when i can’t find it on amazon, lol)

Nice thanks everyone when i get off from work i will have a look at the links. as for the control arms i dont wanna be cheap but would prefer a different route than oem. its like $1000 for oem for all of the parts, pretty hefty for me right now.

Aside from the brakes, you should be able to get all the other parts for under $200. I have no idea how to install them, but it’s probably a lot easier with a lift, so it might be worth having a shop do it for $100 or so.

Brakes are always expensive, but decent pads+discs and the lines I linked you to should be under $600 unless you’re doing the rears as well. Brakes are easy to do yourself.

If you want to buy yourself some time to save up a little more cash for better brakes, you can just buy some new pads to hold you over for a couple months, I doubt your discs are so bad that there’s a danger of them failing any time soon.

If you’re talking lower control arms, your only choice is OEM or equivalent.

The arm itself is not important (unless your balljoint is f’d), however you can change the lower trailing arm bushing to Whiteline or SuperPro (maybe others).

As for upper arms, you can change all the bushes to SuperPro. Be careful with your bushing choice as the virtual balljoint system requires some flex in the bushes.

There are currently no adjustable upper arms on the market - BUT - I am having a custom set made for me by a mob in the USA, whose name escapes me at the moment. They will be for camber adjustment.

Should have them in the next few weeks, and I’ll pass the details on to the forum here.

As for the brakes, I run EBC USR and RedStuff:

I don’t think that’s the price you want to pay, but there’s your part numbers.

Used these folks with success fir the c6 s6, seem ti gave best pricing service and return policy. In fact I still have a lower one I never installed…
