Need help. Whine inside cabin

Awesome, glad this is getting some suggestions.

Justin, i did drop the motor but that was back in Feb. The noise didn’t start until the cooler was installed in April. The only thing we did that weekend, was install the Engine cooler and the Intake manifold.

Im getting the car back today (hole in the heater hose going to the firewall) so i will check to see if i see any bubbles in the power steering fluid. SAI pump is interesting theory. How do i go about checking that? i thought my JHM tune got rid of the SAI (or the use of it anyway)

Koolade, on my car i have the Oil cooler, Trans cooler, and Power steering cooler on mounted up front. I dont remember if there is rubber between (i dont believe so). Ill look into that as well. Ill keep this updated.

LMAO thanks. I do try to keep it clean. That must have been just after a weekend wash because the mat is super clean.

I have the rubber isolators on mine so this could possibly be the cause. Also if the cooler isnt secure you might here this humming

No no, you definitely want some type of isolation. Even if it’s just the little rubber pads/zip ties… Where I was going with that, is if someone is using a stethoscope or the screwdriver method to isolate engine noises, having the heat exchangers hard-mounted to one anther means you’re going to pick up noises from all the other components it’s attached to (i.e. PS cooler)…

Sorry about that…I thought you were having the issue and I got you and the OP mixed up… Either way, isolation = yes ;D

I’m just spit-balling with the components that reside on the passenger side. The SAI is pretty obvious when it’s on, so I really doubt that’s it. I brought it up as perhaps it would trigger a light-bulb on your end if there was an issue, that’s all.

A couple more theories:
-Since this is on an S4, you have the JHM block-off plate/braided oil lines. When you routed the oil lines, are any of them making contact with anything on the engine?
-You also had to remove the alternator to install that plate…did you double-check the coolant lines back there, and more specifically, the electrical connections to the alternator?
-When you put the JHM 6-rib pulley on the alternator, did you remove the little aluminum spacer that sits on the shaft? (Or is that just an RS4 thing? I thought we shared alternators for the most part - someone correct me if I’m wrong)
-Was the aux radiator already removed prior to this? If not, are the coolant lines properly routed now that the rad & coolant/oil block have been removed? I ended up sourcing a couple different parts just to clean up those coolant lines…I know there is room for error in there.

I went back and re-read my blabbering and this resonated with me (pun intended). OP, Is the oil cooler actually secured?

Oil cooler is mounted to the front crash beam. We made a bracket and mounted it. Im going away for a few days so when i get back ill def dive into this more!
