New Car Options

So due to some work/life changes I’m expecting to have to drive a fair bit more and my Jeep, as well as its treated me, likely isn’t going to cut it due to the fuel economy.

Figured I’d post up and see if anyone had any ideas for cars to check into. Some of the boundaries I’m trying to work within, mostly preferences nothing definite:
-6MT
-Hatch/Wagon
-Good fuel economy (25mpg+)
-Somewhat sporty, not looking for a racecar, if its a diesel I’d be much more forgiving to lower performance
-CPO/new

Some cars I was considering:
-The Performance Pack 2015 GTI piqued my interest, bit bigger than the Mk5/6’s and the performance sounds much better. Will depending on pricing/financing deals
-If VWoA runs a low interest rate deal on CPOs again I was thinking a CPO Golf R could do it too (0.9% APR deal ends today, bit earlier than I want to move on).
-Maybe a 2015 Golf R again if the new car deals are right

Anyone got any recommendations?

TDI Jetta Sportwagon can be had in a manual.

definitely a good suggestion, my gf made the same one ealier today. they just do nothing for me unfortunately, I’d rather a golf tdi but there is already one in the family.

328d xdrive Touring?

fun car, drove one back when I valeted… I can’t seem to find one in my price range (trying to stay under $30K unless the financing makes sense)

I just leased a 2014 Chevy Sonic Hatch. Went automatic because it comes with remote start. Getting 30mpg. Handles great for what it is, steering feels right, and it has a full touchscreen radio with all the tricks you’d ever want besides nav

Dumped the Jeep because 12mpg is stupid in a daily driver. I’ll probably only keep the sonic for a year or so, or whenever I’m done with school and making better money

And get this, the cobra is SONIC BLUE. . And my daily is a BLUE SONIC. Get it?

Then financially my advice is simples - if you keep the Jeep, will you spend more than $30k on gas?

edit: My other new car suggestion is the Chevy Cruze which is pretty sweet to drive in 6MT form. I’ll also add the Hyundai Sonata

I’m kinda faced with the same dilemma Beem, is a sedan out of the question.

I have really been considering a 2010 VW Jetta cup edition…42+mpg, pretty sporty, 6spd or DSG

I thought the only diesel was the 3.0twinturbo6 for the 3…and they didn’t offer it manual

I asked for that a couple of years ago. Diesel 3 touring. Thought we weren’t getting it.

I’ll likely spend a lot less than 30 for gas as it’ll be business trips and some of the fuel cost will be compensated.

I’ve got concerns over longevity/reliability though so its not purely financial. The jeep still has some value, but I fear it won’t after another year since it’ll likely roll 100k miles and from what I’ve seen the value gets much lower after that.

The crude diesel is a cool idea but I think its auto only, hyunadi would be a tough pill to swallow lol

It’d have to be a bigger sedan, like a passat, b8, etc. Having the storage space has spoiled me. The mk5 jetta may be a bit too small but if I find a cup I may give it a try

May have been a 335d? Was a while ago, can’t recall more than e90 diesel and I believe 6mt

There’s a Cruise diesel? Neat

I like those. Best looking gm car.

Yeah caught me off guard too… The auto only is a shame though. Small car has got to be a manual for me

Did some reading and it looks like we’ll be getting a GTD in mid 2015, that may do it. Figured I’ll test drive the 2015 gti and golf r when they come out, they seem like good options

I vote B7 A4 2.0T. That way you can get some of that JHM Love again and still get the comfort and MPGs =]

I’m keeping my eye out for a 6MT avant

DOO ITT! We won’t disappoint you ;D

any plans for bigger turbos etc? I think a stock turbo b7 wouldn’t keep me interested for long

Definitely! We plan on have a full range of performance products for the 2.0T. You know how we do

Isn’t the B7 tune already B6 S4 fast?
