new here. Introducing myself!

Hey everyone. New to the site and wanted to introduce myself. I have been out of the Audi game for about the past 3 years… Life, work, and other obligations took too much time away from the car scene. I was a long time lurker on the other forums (AW, QW, and audizine). Never posted but always was a reader.

I haven’t been on any of those other forums for about 3 years but man have things changed. Interesting to see things like VAST and the reputation they have now and all the other new turbo setups (TIAL, GTs) that everyone was so excited about still never really stood up to the high expectations. So I found this website a couple weeks back while doing some research and liked what I saw. A lot of good, real info here and you guys definitely have a sense of humor… so this seems like the place for me to be now!

Anyways, I bought my first B5 S4 about 9 years ago and that was my daily driver until about 4 years ago. That was typical stage 3 AWE/GIAC set up.
I then bought another one about 4 years ago and went full OEM RS4 widebody with all the other stage 3 parts.
Car is currently running K04s with GIAC/AWE setup, FI downpipes and custom exhaust, moton 2 way adjustable suspension, alcon 6pot in the front, alcon 4 pot in the rears. Custom interior with Status CF seats. I really built this to be my weekend car/track car but havent been able to much of anything with it in the past 3 years.
The car is running like crap right now so I just got off the phone with JHM and will be going up there the first week of March to get their fueling and tuning! Pretty excited about that! JHM seems to be the place to go for tuning these days.
I am really struggling at figuring how to post pictures on the thread (I am a huge noob when it comes to that stuff) so I attached a picture of my car for now.

I am also looking to get back in to a B6/B7 S4 avant as my daily driver which is proving harder to find than I expected. So if any of you have any leads on one please let me know! I have my eye on a couple right now so hopefully one works out.

Well thats it for me. I probably wont be posting much but will be asking questions from time to time for sure.

Cheers!

Welcome and very nice car! Thats a b5 done right. As for B6/7 Avant, they are rare for sure esp in manual form. But one helluva DD for sure.

Welcome. your car looks really good, great job 8)

Just saw this over on audizine - auto though

Very nice and welcome. Look froward to more info, more pics, and more posts!

are you in Mexico? I think I saw your build thread. Pretty awesome.

Car is pretty much perfect. Widebody sedan, K04…must be a dream. I liked your track vids when you were roasting 911s on the straights and stuff. lol.

welcome to AR!

Damn…that is one nice B5 and ibis to boot. Like saki said k04 with JHM tuning and widebody is the best combination.

Welcome.

Haha no thats not me. Im in So Cal.
But yes K04s are plenty for me right now. They are proven and it is built from the track so cant beat the k04s in that department. Im really excited for the JHM tune though… Thats really going to change things.

Thank you!

Ya I saw that one. I really want a manual. I have been in a couple different Audis with tiptronic and I don’t like that transmission at all. Bummer to because that is really local to me and the color I want.

Wow, your car is gorgeous. Please more pics

Welcome aboard, great to have someone like you on here

Thank you! I appreciate that.

I will take some more pictures soon for sure and post them. I need to get the windows tinted and Im possibly thinking about powder coating the wheels something darker… havent decided yet.

Heres on more picture attached of the rear

Always good to see more great B5 owners. I hate to sound like a nag but the B5 crowd seems a bit different to me. Being that your a old school-er Its great to have you. I agree with the sediment that most of the other web sites seem to be a bit of cat and dog. It seems that any B5 forum has arguments due to what seems to be no clear direction anymore. That is why I like this site. Seems lots of the guys here require just a little more to be convinced.

ahh cool. There’s another widebody white B5 in Mexico with BBS CH funny enough.

JHM tune is a real game changer for a K04 car. Should be a nice bump for you. Dynamics are awesome. I believe a K04 B5 with JHM tuning on race gas recently ran 11.4 at the dragstrip in nor-cal. That’s pretty damn fast.

Here are your pics blown up. You can use the img /img tags to display them in the thread.

wow very nice, welcome

That’s one very clean B5 you have there. I love the dual exhaust. I always hated the single sided exhaust on those cars

That’s a great looking car!!

Yes, I agree. A lot of those other sites just seem to be a lot of bickering back and forth about nothing and people taking everything personally. It does seem like the B5 platform has kind of hit a stand still. Like I said I haven’t kept up with the B5 platform and product development for 3+ years so I was pretty surprised at the TIAL/GT setups and how they never really met the expectations or produced like they were supposed to. I remember there being SO much hype about those set ups three years ago and how they were going to blow the K04s/RS6 setups out of the water. Which doesnt seem to be the case so far. Thats why I am sticking with my K04s and going to see JHM!

A lot of good info already on this site and its just getting started. Thats why I am here. Just some good, no biased, real world info and results.

yup. You could also substitute Tial with any number of hyped up turbo options. Its tough to re-invent the wheel it seems. The fastest B5 in the world is rocking a VW engine. That’s kind of the most telling fact about the platform.

JHM running 10 seconds recently is cool, but when you see they’re running a BW turbo and not GT or Tial…it makes you just scratch your head. No doubt the top Tial cars are VERY FAST. Absurdly fast. They just seem to be fast in a zone where very few of us ever tread, and in a fashion very few of us would ever bother (single gear, high speed runs)

Ya, I am really excited to get my car up to JHM and see what they can do for me. I mean, its kind of hard to consider other tunes when you look at what JHM has done with this platform in my opinion… or what they have done basically with all other platforms as well. All top B6/B7s S4s are JHM.
I would be thrilled if I could run low/mid 11s on race gas in my car. I have some weight reduction as well (CF hood, CF roof with sunroof delete, CF trunk, CF status seats, BBS magnesium wheels) so I hope I can get down in that range on a consistent basis. I will make it out the the strip a couple times this season for sure and post up some results.

Thank you sir. I was never a big fan of the single sided exhaust as well. We had to cut out the entire spare wheel well and weld in a flat piece so we could split the exhaust. Was kind of a pain in the ass but I think it looks and sounds awesome so it was worth it. Once I saw the B7 RS4s setup I had to try and replicate it.

Haha now that you mention it , it is really funny the fastest S4 is running a VW engine. And its always funny seeing the B5 guys always saying that basically all other engines are downgrades from the 2.7T. Its an awesome engine, I love it, but there are a lot of other great engines out there and not only Audi engines.

Example is all the B5s talking smack on the 4.2 V8. There has been a huge amount of progress in the platform since I have been gone and running mid 12s on 93 as a daily driver with just bolt ons and a tune is awesome. Thats why I want one now haha! Although I am a forced induction person at heart.

I agree that there are a lot of fast high powered TIAL cars out there… and like you said especially in certain zones. In my opinion I just couldnt justify spending that amount of money for the actual results of them. But thats just my opinion and to each their own. I hope TIAL and all other set ups end up producing across all ranges of performance… its good for the platform in all aspects
