New here

Hey guys. Been posting over at Audizine and found my way over here as well.

I’ve been into Mustangs for a long time and over the past couple of years started lusting over something different…looked at Porsche Caymans…used 911s…then a guy at work got a new S4 which was very nice…I started shopping S4s but then found the RS4. I told myself that my next car would have one of these new-fangled DCTs but the overall combination of the RS4 and it’s recently depreciated value made it seem like a good deal.

PS - here’s my “other” car: www.93coupe.com Honestly, it makes the RS4 feel like a Prius, speed-wise. As far as an overall package, my RS4 has it all, though…well almost…but I’m working on that!

Picked up a 2007 Daytona Grey RS4 a couple of months ago. I really like it. I bought it from the original owner. He was pretty good about getting stuff done under warranty but seemed like he really slowed down driving it (and maintaining it) after the warranty recently expired, so I’m catching up on his maintenance and making it perfect. Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • Refinished wheels
  • New PSS tires
  • new Raxles front CV shafts
  • LED interior lighting kit
  • Carbon clean (THAT was interesting)
  • Fought ECP light…ended up being the flap position sensor for bank 2 (the one that you need to remove the intake to replace).
  • ECS spacers 8mm…so far, these suck. I already had a slight vibration and these just put it over the top. Going to try 10mm hubcentric spacers but I’m reluctant to buy ECS based on their crappy advertising on their website regarding the 8mm spacers (the wording makes it sound like they are hubcentric…to a new guy like me). Of course, I’ve now learned that most people know they are not hubcentric.

My list of to-dos:

  • MAYBE JHM tune
  • MAYBE Exhaust (I like that it’s somewhat quiet…my other car is not)
  • Fix hood gap
  • Install B5 perches on front to level it out (bought these already)
  • Install adjustable upper control arms so I can get the alignment specs that I want (bought these already)
  • Replace carbon engine covers…or get mine reskinned in carbon
  • Just bought Dension kit to add Bluetooth music streaming…waiting on that to arrive

Welcome to AR! Nice stang build.

Post up some pics of your newly acquired RS4. Daytona Grey is gorgeous!

Why is there hood gap? Do you want to replace the carbon engine covers because they are yellowing?

there’s a place that can make you custom spacers. I’d try them. Can’t remember. You do it all online. Good quality, good price.

MTM is what I use on my rears (10mm) and they’ve been great, however we’ve seen a few of them cracking so I wouldn’t recommend them. The price is also retarded ($300+ for 4 including bolts)

I have the JHM exhaust. Full 2.75" with cats, and the resonated catback. It’s loud enough that its awesome, and the sound is fantastic, but its not loud enough that its embarrassing.

Much quieter than my full 2.5" catless resonated JHM B7 S4 exhaust was.

Hey man, good to see you over on AR…welcome!

They are hub centric, but you are listening to idiots on AZ. They just don’t have the raised centering lip.

The ECS 10mm work fine, I run the on the rear of my car.

Just buy the H&R 8mm version 2 spacers. Also, make sure the hub surface is clean well…even just a little bit of buildup can cause you a headache at 80MPH

8mm is for bitches. Need 10 or 12 rear, 8mm front.

8mm front, 10mm rear…faggot

I’m not sure if I had the front(8MM) on in the first picture.

Welcome aboard fellow V8 owner!

The company sakimano referring to is Motorsport-Tech

I’ve read a ton of good reviews regarding their spacers. Good quality and priced right.

Yep 8 front 10 or 12 rear, or 10 all around!
Btw whats the horses on that mustang?
Jhm tune is a must
Jhm short shift or trio
Jhm or ebwerks exhaust

Great to see another RS4 member. Definitely need some pictures.

When you say hood gap are you talking about the front bumper to hood gap?

where da pictures at?

Jeff welcome. Great car great choose.

Lots of us are in the same boat as you. We were domestic mustang guys who made the switch. Not to knock AZ but the smarter guys got tired of all the drama and dumb posts on AZ and came here. You will see the top educated guys and hard core guys here. Welcome again

THAT is what I want to know! I think you’re the first person who has that setup (cats AND resonated). I want some more flow…and some more growl but like you, I don’t want to have people stare. I do this for me, not others  Personally, I think an ultra loud exhaust is easy to achieve and in a way…takes away from the classiness aspect of these cars (no offense to you guys with screamers!). My Mustang is ultra loud and that’s fine for a Mustang…if that makes sense.

Meant to say you’re the first person who 'I’ve come across" who has that setup.

I don’t really have any worth mentioning yet… Just imagine any Daytona Grey RS4 you’ve ever seen!

I realized that my old spring compressor is not appropriate for this setup so the perches and control arms will need to wait for another weekend.

Mustang makes 425/380 to the wheels. Weighs 3100lbs…so that makes for some fun NA action.
Someone needs to come up with a kit to fit that motor in an RS4, lol.

Welcome! post some pics! i wasnt into stangs but thier rival. Loved my camaro. Until i found my Audi.

Yeah, the first thing I would do to a mustang is LS swap it…haha

Article isn’t exactly accurate but the pic is one of when I first dropped the engine in.

ever take that thing to the drag strip?

Believe it or not…no. I’ve been to Sebring with it 3 times now, though. Based on times I’ve seen others run, it should spin itself to mid-low 11s. Some of the cars with drag setups are running mid-low 10s in the “Coyote Stock” class. Mid 11s with my road race suspension…I’d be happy with that.

The last car I had at the drag strip was my Mach 1. That was the fastest car I’ve had. @600 to the wheels. I ran an 11.30 with that @131…so there was plenty left. Here’s that car…and yes, a picture of me…sigh:

They have a test and tune this Sunday…maybe I’ll go and bring both cars

would be neat to see.

So 425 whp…what’s the gearing like on the Mustang? That’s power enough to move an Rs4 to 120 MPH, but 3100 lbs is very different for the first half of the track or so. Second half the weight is not so significant. I’d say unless gearing is really weird, it’s good for 125 mph, but ET wise will depend on how well you wrestle it. I bet it’s tough to go better than 11.75 on street tires. Not sure what you have on it.
