New Injectors vs. JHM Reflowed Injectors

I think this is exactly what I’m talking about. JHM does a core system and is left getting back compromised cores and they have to then try to keep the core system going so while you’re getting better than stock injectors you end up with the hardware side only as good as the last batch of people who turned them in.

Core exchange systems are a great attempt to really try and help the community and I praise JHM for even going though the trouble but its just too hard to keep customers happy when you get people destroying their injectors apon removal.

Very happy that JHM is even still interested and supporting the 5,2 motors. So I’ll make sure to get what I can from them even if its a few dollars more because in the end you can always price shop and try to find the lowest possible price but you can’t motivate companies to do what JHM is and for me that’s worth rewarding them for IMHO.

Would still be beneficial if they take their OEMs and run them through the ringer. That could be our “after market” performance injectors for this platform.

Aaaahhhhhhhh!!! %#$%@!#%!

I never sent mine in because I’ve got 10 in the car, 12 in a box and I think mmmmaybe 8 in the box have broken tabs - I’m pretty sure sales told me directly that they wouldn’t accept parts w broken tabs as core replacements, so I never sent em in. Now I’m supersad panda.

Yeah with out hard it is to get the injectors out I think it just created too many damaged beyond repair and better to just not have customers mad or upset than to provide the service… Sucks but in there position I guess I would just go for the happy customer. Its hard to keep people happy when the cores got worse and worse…

I took out 4 pairs with no issues but it was a lot of work to not damage them. Since these are and most of the guys on here and that read on here are DIY guys. Some might have been doing it for the first time and just had issues on removal. That causes obvious issues for core exchange…

The good news is JHM has lots of other products and the more we support them the more they support the platform.

I wonder if I send em 10 good cores and beg and beg with a side of some pleading if they’d fire up the machine?

Maybe change the server to no cores; you just send in what you got, tabs intact or not and that’s what they test&clean and ship back?

when i talked to them the other day, i was left with the impression that yields were not consistently high enough after cleaning and flowing. so you’d have to clean and flow again (and again) until all the injectors matched up.

exactly…that’s what you’re paying $600 for. :stuck_out_tongue:

exactly…

I am now in this predicament as I am about to undertake an IM change along with spacers and heard it is good practice to “replace” the injectors.

I called JHM 20 minutes ago and the rep told me they DO NOT have the machines to flow / clean the injectors and quoted me $1,550 for a new set of 10.

So is JHM not cleaning and flowing these anymore?

They are not. I’d buy them from FCP Euro for $1,100 with lifetime warranty.

Find a local shop that clean / flow DI injectors… no need for new $1100 (!!) injectors.

Man, even google pulls up 3 -4 well known injector shops located in north america.

I understand, and after reading about the tolerances I was just curious if anyone here had a well known quality shop to do it “right the first time”

I wonder if shops that service diesel injectors can dial down the pressure to DI range…

I see the JHM isn’t offering the injector cleaning service any longer. Anyone have any success with a local or other shop able to clean and flow these injectors at the appropriate pressures?

Try sending countvohn a PM. I know he helped set up the cleaning with JHM. He would know more.

If it helps, I have 10 injectors I’d sell that someone can use to get cleaned/reflowed. Only one has the tiny electrical connector retaining nub missing.

I know I will need to do this when I do the new IM, carbon clean, and IM spacers. I think I am going to send them off to a company out east and be down about a week…

The biggest thing about cleaning these injectors is before and after tests. If your sending them out get before and after. Also make sure they are cleaing and flowing them at 12 bar no less than 10 because the noraml cleaning is at 3 bar or 5 at the most in old tests.

From what others have said. If your not testing above 10bar your just flowing your injectors at 5bar your car idles at 5bar pressure. No point in flowing or testing at that low.

I concur! But 10 bar, is that even enough?!

Thats only 150 PSI, thought these needed to be matched at working pressure which would be ~25-30 Bar ? No?
