New JHM product test. Intake spacers

So don’t hate me as now this is the 3rd test product Ive gotten.

Intake spacers. Nothing like having a company Like JHM. MAN I don’t know how they do it. Its also super great that we have the 4.2L guys and loads of past testing.

I wanted to let you guys know that threre is more comming. im doing the write up now

So lets just talk from a factual point of view. The intake spacers dropped my intake temps on average 40deg. I had justincredible help me out with it and he had mentioned that the hotter out the temps are the more the spacaers help. so tempiture benifits are even better in the summer.

So the mod. Its not like the chip. Its not rock your world but its clearn it is working. Here is where the spacers shine.

The car when its cold always runs strong but when the car and thus the parts of the motor heat up. You tend to see the car starts to fall off in power. It falls off in power due to heat soak. No different then with a turbo car and why they run a intercooler. You want to keep the incomming air cool. With our intakes we have just about 3feet of intake manifold to heat or to cool the air down thats going into the motor.

Down low and in the mid range you can tell the difference. Both with the temp gun and how the car never starts to get heat soaked. I can tell you that the intake never even got luke warm this was a frask difference from before when you would drive for a few miles you coun’t even think about toutching the intakemanifold.

Im very pleased. They are a simple product that has been used for years in the GM domestic game and this pays the same divadends to the 3.0.

Its been about a week now that Ive had them on and put them through all kinds of different tests. 2 weeks before the install I did lots of testing and measuring of the temps. the end result is a little bump in performance that you will notice when you pay attention and you can clearly see there doing there jkob the temps were always much cooler. To assure I was having good test results I waited till today and I removed the spacers. The outside tempiture is much cooler. So you would think that would help out keeping the temps down on the intake. NOPE. The results were more obvious going from intake spacaer to no intake spacer.

It seems when you loose that littel extra hp your going to notice it more then you are when your looking for it. great part the fit and finnish was great and I was and am very happy with them. Not only is ait a good perofmrance mod its good for long term health of the motor. so its a large pluss on all fronts.

JHM goods are always nice. How much driving have you done with them?

Yes do tell more. I had to skip on them this check due too not enough monies. Let’s hear what I’m missing out on!

F*** I wish I was rich.

I’ll have em soon too.

Shawn: Did you ever delete your SAI? It looks like a good time to do it would be during intake manifold R&R.

man are we on the same page. I did. thats why In the 42parts thread I made mention that the count tuned my car right infront of me. I had my SAI turned off.

I kinda made a mess of it. referning to the SAI removal… once I clean everything up Ill post more about that. I updated the original post.

Thanks for the writeup. 40 degrees will make a huge difference here in the southern summers. Did you have to drain any of the coolant before removing the intake manifold? Bentley procedure calls to drain it all, but surely not all of it needs to come out.

Also, did JHM send them with install instructions or should I write up a DIY when I do mine next week?

Sweeet. Props to JHM yet again I’m glad to see more progress.

Nice writeup, the spacers are a proven part of the formula.

Intake spacers are a great addition. If you ever drive in traffic or warmer weather it is very easy to notice the change that they make.

I don’t know if heatsoak is as bad as our S4s, but when the engine bay consists of motor and fenders with almost no space the heat savings are amazing. It’s fun to watch how some of the mods trickle down as many of the same principles apply for the NA cars.
