New member/B6 owner

Hello all,

Got the tip on this place from JHM, as I’ve been talking with them to undo what was done to my 05 B6 S4 that I just picked up. Was lurking on AZ, and found this spot, seems to be less fanboy action over here.

Anyway just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. Live/work in Raleigh, NC. Got a Nogaro 05 B6 from FL on Tues, from some Porsche (and to a lesser extent Bentley/Audi) tuner. He took care of the motor and barely drove it, which is good. His mods are Strat open element filter and a GIAC tune…which kinda sucks.

Anyway, looking to do a JHM tune first to correct the GIAC one, then hopefully tackle the exhaust. Any suggestions on how to work with the open element filter? I know the stock setup is pretty much perfect, but he didnt have the box :-\

Anyway, thanks for any help!

The giac tune is a joke so your good to go there getting the jhm countless people have made the switch and you will be mad at how little the giac tune did or in this case didn’t do

I would try selling the open element filter check the S6 section tweets posted his acceleration increase by putting the stock air box back in his car and he picked up quite a bit… The stock air box is a great addition to the motor I would see if you can get one from members junk yard as a rule of thumb strat stuff is junk

Great ti have you hear great place and everyone loves new members no question is a bad question is

Ah damn, so not worth it to try and shield/duct the cone filter? It’d be way faster/easier/cheaper to mod my existing stuff than get a new/used airbox Im assuming. New to Audi’s, just can’t comprehend how a box is better than an open element! (provided proper heat shielding).

Your stock air box is pressurized and comes with a stock ram air. The configuration of the box is for 100% power they actually have a air scoop coming from the fender to SLOW DOWN THE AIR SCOOP AS THERE IS SO MUCH there are countless threads on the benefits of the AIR box the hot air is just one part of the complete failure of the open element.

Truth be told you would spend more time getting that piece of shit strat junk to work hof as good as the AIR box then you would to just spend the 50 dollars to get one from a junk yard. Check out the dude in the classified section here he is parting out his car so you might get lucky there

I know B7 DPs fit on B6, but what about B7 airboxes? Dude on AZ (and here I think) parting out his B7 Avant.

i belive they are the same. and good to hear your switching over to jhm the stuff just works its crazy lol.

oh i also live in nc near the water.

If you need a stock air box, I have mine sitting in my garage. I won’t need it anytime soon. ;D

@Ryan: I think you’re friends with swag from AZ too right? He gave me a PM the other day, good to see ppl in the area. I hate that I’ve gotta UN-mod this to get it in better shape, but I was set on a Nogaro and the car was immaculate (if poorly modded).

@Speed: I’d be all over that, assuming its a B6/7. PM me how much you’d want shipped.

After reading and agreeing that the stock air box is the best way to go. I didn’t know why you posted you won’t need your air box. then I read a few posts down and I can agree. I think your much better off with your new intake set up. can we expect to see anymore videos? I watched one you posted but there was no sound

Welcome new member. Its a great forum. this is the place to ask questions. With no advertising your going toget a better collection of information and support

SpeedETC doesn’t need the stock air box because he has a JHM supercharger system in the way… ;D

If you watched the 3rd gear pull, something happened on the upload. Also, I think my clutch issue is sorted out so more videos coming soon.

@SlideWays, yes it is out of a B6. I will PM you.

So it was the SAC all along?

Once I confirm everything is all good I will make a post.

Can you bump the clutch thread with your updated infer speed?

^ Yep, I will.
