New on this !

Hi guys i just got a 09 A6 3.0T Avant and i was wondering what u guys use for mods.

  1. lower,springs or Coilovers
I heard a lot about ST coils because they cheap and good any imput?
    2)tune, APR,GIAC any imput
  2. air intake , what is available out there, or just do a custom or nothing at all?
  3. 20" wheels what off set are u guys running? I was thinking maybe 20x9 w 255/30 tires??
    Thanks in advance!

The A6 is a bigger car so the coil overs have a lot of value due to its flexability.

Tune wise its hard to ignore the APR tune for the 3.0T. APR isnt good for everything but its a solid 3.0T tune

The intake Im not 100% sure but I think the S4 intakes will work. They will be a little off but it should still work

No real idea on rims. Thats not my thing

That is a cool car Denis!

  1. I would actually recommend air ride on that car. It was a factory option on that model but the aftermarket solutions work better. If you don’t want air ride then your standard coilovers are good too. Just like Justin said coilovers or better suspension would help that big car stay planted.
  2. GIAC if they have something for you or go with APR. A simple stage 1 tune or better still a different pulley and stage 2 tune would do wonders for getting that wagon moving.
  3. Pretty sure that the B8 3.0T intake options work for the C6 3.0T. Just make sure that there isn’t a heat exchanger under the passenger side headlight because I can’t remember if there is one or not since it has been a while since I worked on a C6 3.0T.
  4. That big heavy car needs some sidewall for the tires. I would stick to 18s or 19s and keep some meat on the tires. Otherwise you run the risk of putting bubbles in the sidewalls or popping tires on potholes.

Sorry to kind of thread-jack, but do the A6 air-ride options work on the S6, too? Because that is something I’d love to look into in the future, especially if I can push a button to lift the car above stock ride height. The money I’d save from not mangling my undercarriage on dirt roads would make it worth it. The air-ride kit on ECSTuning says it works for the C6, but just curious if anyone has actually tried to install such a thing.

Denrs4, sweet car, enjoy! Keep us updated on the work you choose to do!

The air ride should work on a C6 S6. Haven’t seen it done before but the C6 S6s are usually not modded around me. It is done all the time on normal C6 A6s though.

I’d recommend starting off with an upgraded rear-sway. Made a huge difference in feel though I already had the OEM sport suspension. Followed it up with KW V1s and I’ve been happy.

GIAC/APR are the way to go. I’d say go GIAC if you want program switching. I have APR and I’m quite happy with it but I wish I could switch to the 100 program for the drag strip.

B8 intakes do not work with the C6. Roc-Euro and USP have open air intakes designed for our cars. I’m running a custom one. These engines like the open element systems it seems and there’s the added benefit of supercharger whine.

Welcome and post up some pics!

Good update on the intakes not working on the C6. thats what I get for doubble checking with that other site on that information. Good to know.

Yep unfortunately learned the hard way when I bought a “Stratmosphere” aka Roc-Euro B8 intake several years back. Fortunately was able to sell it and have a custom system developed.

K thanks good to know, there is a good thread somewhere over here on how to do a custom one!
