Not bad not bad at all… wonder what it will do with a tune or even better a tune on 100 octane!

Very nice. Do want.
oh damn, wonder what the motor will fit in lol
holy mother fuck
although caveat time: Car and Driver seem to produce better test numbers than anyone these days. Their TTRS was pretty much exactly the same but anyone else who tested one was nowhere near it. I’m not talking 6mt vs. DSG ttrs that C&D tested…I’m talking other DSG tests from Europe. Nowhere near it. Same with the RS5. The C&D RS5 test produced a 4.0 0-60 time and a 12.3 @ 112 quartermile or something…while everyone else is closer to 12.5-12.7 and 109 or so. The M3 in that test ran 0-60 in 3.9 and 12.2 @ 114.8 or something. Obviously way off…and not tested at a proper dragstrip
Still, good to see.
Primetime, did they test it against anything? I mean what does the new M5 even do? I doubt it will be high 11s stock.
p.s. here’s what your link produced
LOL! Sorry about that… On a conference call so didn’t test the link… I agree seems a little fast but who knows… still slower than my S4! lol
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-audi-s6-test-review
not really slower. Same MPH
Here’s what they had the new M5 doing. Looks like the S6 is a pretty epic launcher, and then gets raped by a few buslengths if it were to do a highway pull vs. the M5.
Can’t wait to see the quattro tuned version of this 4.0 in the RS6. If history is any indication it’ll make more hp than the M5’s 560…and that could be pretty hilarious to watch. Of course we’ll be watching from afar…Avant only, EU and ROW only from the looks of it.
C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.7 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 8.3 sec
Zero to 150 mph: 18.3 sec
Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 4.6 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 1.8 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 2.4 sec
¼-mile: 12.0 sec @ 122 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 155–190 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 165 ft
vs. the S6
C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.7 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 9.2 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 16.1 sec
Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 4.9 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 2.1 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 2.6 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.1 sec @ 115 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 155 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 157 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.87 g
Fack. . . cars are just getting fast. Exponentially faster than they got from mid 90’s to mid 2000 at least.
It will be interesting to see if the new M5 is the last RWD M5 though. There’s talk of it, b/c as we all know, at a certain point, there’s only so much power you can put through 2 wheels at the rear.
Seems the M5 can launch just as good - both have a 0-60 of 3.7.
well, not really. The M5 launches well, but the A6 launches incredibly well. Don’t forget the M5 makes 140 hp more than the S6. If it’s matching the S6 in any acceleration test, it’s like lagging.
For example, give the S6 560 hp and 500 tqs like the M5 has. You think it will still be the 3.7?
Both cars reaching the 1/4 mile at 12.0-12.1 means they’re seperated by less than a car length athe post, and the A6 is well out in front of the M5 the whole way down the track until the last 100 feet where the M5 catches and passes it (only slightly). I’d love to see whole timeslips to see the gaps. Better yet, to see an actual race.
primetime does this make that S6 a bit more attractive? Sounds like a serious performer. You were contemplating a new car a week or two ago and this was on the list.
Pretty damn compelling.
Can you imagine this car with a tune and fullback exhaust…
Honestly… was hoping for a slightly higher trap… the car is getting it done via the launch and tranny… no doubt a tune and mods will add a ton… If anything it gives me even more faith and hope in my car… If I had a 5K+ LC I would be doing a little better as I sit… 1.5x 60’s? Just hoping for a tranny tune and bigger blower… Probably still be competitive with a bolt on/tuned S6… only time will tell…
Never know I could see myself in one but am leaning towards a coupe and keeping the A4 as a daily vs using the S4…
115 is very strong for 420 hp…thats like 350 WHP.
know any other cars trapping 115 at that power level?
I’m sure C&D is still using the same methods, but their tests are run via Vbox and the results are then corrected for ideal weather conditions.

I have been watching this car for a while now, and with those numbers it piqued my interest even more. I’ve been waiting to find out more on the new RS4 as I’m not completely feeling the new B8 facelift, but I loved the S6 before, and those numbers sound even better when everyone is up in the air about the TD1 issues.
Although I thought it was funny how a lot of people in the zoo thought those numbers were impossible. I agree that Car and Driver numbers tend to be optimistic, but considering what Panamera’s can do I would say the numbers might not be that far off. Either way…

You’d think so…however we’ve seen from our own testing that pbox/vbox (same company) can be a bit funky. Further, they don’t always use a VBOX…they often, on these first drives and first tests use a pbox because they don’t have access to the car for an extended test. They are press cars in a press pool at a track day, and the journalists will use a pbox, the portable consumer level version of the vbox from racelogic.
What will the next RS6 be like? Utter fuckig madness

probably a quattro’d version of the 4.0TT with about 580 hp/520 tq.
I will just say that I made a visit to the dealership a few days ago after reading about the new S6…
