New Start Button

I replaced my stock start button since the stop portion of the button cracked. Ended up picking up from ecs since I had a credit https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-C6_S6--V10_5.2L/ES394056/. The install was about 10 minutes. The manual helped ensure me of what I was doing. Could post photos of this if anyone is interested.

I wouldn’t mind some photos and/or a brief tutorial… my start button is kind of mangled, it looks like the previous owner used to start the car by stabbing at it with the ignition key.

JC that would be cool if you could post that up. I put the link up so if you wanted to load pictures directly to the site you can. This way you dont need to use up your storage space and its on the site.

Very high quality; much better than original. The start text also illuminates.

This is how to remove the shift boot from the manual. Took about 10 minutes being very careful.

Interesting, it looks a lot different than my Start/stop buttons. They must have changed sometimes in the middle of the C6 generation. These ones look way cooler than mine, I’ll post a photo in a minute

Here’s what mine looks like. Totally different button shape, but the housing appears to be the same size. And as you can see, the previous owner probably used to start and stop the car my stabbing the buttons with a kitchen knife.

Hard to tell from the picture, but the word “engine” on the Start button has nearly broken all the way through, I have to be careful not to push that part of the button or it’ll end up with a big hole in it.

I know they updated the s8 button. The old was square the new is circle

Changed with the facelift. Local C6 guys have swapped to the newer style with no issue. I just haven’t been able to justify the price when mine is mint.

I’ll trade you buttons, then yours won’t be mint anymore, problem solved ;D

I know what you mean, I have a hard time justifying any cost for something that doesn’t affect functionality or performance. I’m a function over form kinda guy. IF this button was $50 I’d have bought it already, but for $110 I can think of lots of other things I’d rather buy.

That’s my attitude as well. I like it, but for $150 - $200 (Canadian pricing sucks…), I can’t replace something that works and looks fine. That, and I’ve started the S7 search, as I’ll likely only have the car another year at most. Time for a change soon.
