needed new tires (badly) for my RS4 so I bought the Michelin PSS. So far so good. I have about 20 kms on them so far lol.
They look good, and look pretty fat actually for 255. I was going to get 275.30.19 which would be 25.5" tall (vs stockers at 26.0" tall) but at the last second went OEM sized so as not to exacerbate the already present OEM wheel gap. I don’t anticipate switching up my suspension any time soon, so figured this would be a better option. 0.25" is all it would add, gap wise, but that’s still significant. On the other hand, it would have lowered the car by 0.25" to the ground as well.
Need an alignment pronto. My old tires had some really funky wear paterns in them. The inside shoulder of my front left was destroyed. Very weird. That’s from one summer of driving (around 5,000 miles) with improper alignment specs. It’s worth the $100 or whatever it is to ensure you don’t ruin your $1500 tires!
Time now to throw on the 10mm MTM spacers.
p.s. for Canadian/GTA guys, I went to a few sources for the tires to see the best deal. Prices are installed/taxes in (but not including an alignment).
Audi dealer 1 - $2350
Audi dealer 2 - $2150
Local tire place 1 - $1950
Local tire place 2 (Tires23) - $1560
I also looked at Tire Rack. Getting them shipped to Niagara Falls, driving there, getting them installed, then driving back over the border without declaring them would cost, with cost of gas/travel/shipping from TireRack etc. was $1420…so only $140 cheaper than buying from Tires23. Further, if I declared the tires at the border and just paid HST on them, that $140 savings would have been eclipsed.
I have never found a local place to buy tires that made it compelling for me to just go there rather than do the Tire Rack border job…but Tires23 was incredible.
