New to the S4 club

Hello Everyone.

I thought I would introduce myself. I have been an S4 owner since last July. I was driving around an old salvage titled Corrolla and decided that it was time to get something better. I searched and reviewed autos for a while till I came across the S4. Well, I do not have to tell anyone here what I felt when I saw that car. It was indeed love at first sight. Virtual sight that is. I found it on Auto trader with 71k on her and an engine direct from Audi in Germany with only 16k. I contacted the owner and made arrangements to go pick it up. I grabbed a flight from Salem Oregon to Cleveland and drove her back on an awesome and thrilling 2500 mile test drive. It was not long until the mod bug set in. Last fall, I installed a JHM shifter, an Apikol snub, yellow fog bulbs, a carbon fiber Cupra R lip, blacked out side markers and changed fuel, air and cabin filters. I went on a shopping spree and got a bunch of goodies. Then the weather turned. I have to fight for garage space so most of the time I work outside. Now that the weather is improving I have a bunch of stuff waiting to go on. New rotors, brake lines, pads, wheel well liners, wheel bearings and hubs, upper control arms, Bilstein sport shocks and sport pedals. I just ordered the oil check valve kit and the JHM intake spacers. Since I will be down there I decided to get a new PCV valve. Check valve Y pipe and pintle caps just in case I break something. I realize that some of the things I am doing probably do not need changing but it is pretty enjoyable to work on this car and it is not breaking the bank by buying the stuff so why not? Speaking of working on this car, I find it pretty satisfying to be able to say that I fixed my own car and can keep her in good shape. I also realized during my research that the only real way I was going to afford to keep a car like this was to do as much maintenance on my own. That is why I am excited to be here. I am on Audizine as well, but this forum feels much more serious and oriented toward people that often get under the hood. I look forward to getting good help and advice and look forward to contributing once my own skill and knowledge with this platform improve.

Your right this is the more technical and factual forum. The other sites just keep giving out either bad advice no advice or the advice they read here.

All of us here take cars and our money very seriously so we don’t like to see others buy into the bs that’s out there. Everyone here just has a vested interest in the membership. Welcome get up some pictures and always feel free to post up your work. It helps others help you with the right direction and support if you happen to need it.

The list you started with sounds great. If you get a chance do your Dp mod ASAP.

Welcome fella S4 owner! Congrats on a new toy, and that’s quite an upgrade after Corolla lol
You’ll save a ton by working on this thing yourself. Looking forward to see what you have in store for it.

Make sure you buy a box of hose clamps with all those new parts

All the stock clamps are one time use or those pinch type, which I’ve somehow broken half the ones I’ve ever loosened, not to mention they are a pain in general. There is probably some tool for them that I don’t have… anyway. I’m always seeming to run out of hose clamps, don’t make that mistake!

Thanks for the tips guys. I want to post some photos but the insert image tab does not seem to be working. Any clues on how to add a pic or to to my posts?

AR can host pics. Try this link when logged in: http://audirevolution.net/image_uploader.php

I do love my RS4 but I admit…as rare as the RS is compared to the S4…I know of 3 other RS4s in my area but I don’t think I can remember when I’ve seen an S4 last. Pretty cool! Get those pics up!

Ok! Success. Here she is on the drive home from Ohio, Sitting in the driveway getting ready for some parts, Front end removed for the snub mount, which ended up being a real bitch to do, The new RS4 grill and carbon fiber lip and finally sitting in the driveway all done and looking pretty.

^ Looking sharp!

Welcome. Great looking car!

Where did you get the carbon fiber lip? That looks great on black

^That’s a CF version of Cupra R lip from spoonfedtuning. Quite neat if you ask me.

Nice looking S man!

thanks for the compliments everyone!

Really like that lip! Looks really good on the car!

And props for wrenching on her yourself! It’s surprising how to much you can save when your not paying the hourly rate at a shop! Glad to have you on board!
