When you use obd2 what does it specifically scan to get the vin from. Does it use the engine computers or only one of them or does it use a module on the car?
It’s usually the immobilizer system that holds all of the vin data. The dash / ECU / and not sure on the S6 but the central control module in some cars has vin data.
