Official RS5 supercharger thread!

Thanks @Petere for you info and thank you for trying to replicate what i am getting, its very good of you to try for me :+1: at least i know now if yours is ok mine should be not be doing this stupid judder !!

Iā€™m really pleased for you that your transmission is going well and the RS6 flexplate has made no difference to the way the car should drive.
If its like mine the gear changes are super smooth and the who transmission just feels more refined, apart from my judder my car feels great with the RS6 flexplate !!

Im glad you are happy with what you have done and i cant thank you enough for being brave enough and being the first to try the Rs6 Flexplate out and sharing it with us all, it wouldnā€™t of been possible with out you doing this soā€¦THANK YOU !!:grin:

Yes i get thatā€™s what you were doing with regards to the Motul
Again thatā€™s a BIG Thank You for working out this would be a suitable oil to run in the rear diff and the MTF side of the Transmission, it feels really good with this oil in both lovely a smooth. I am again super happy with it so cheers buddy another result ! :+1::grin:

Yes all my tyreā€™s are within the same diameter, same age and rotated normally buddy.
Ill do the adaptation again myself and let you know how i get on ill also do the throttle bodyā€™s as well.

Thanks again mate your a star ! :+1:

Rumor has it, JHM is getting close. I need to get Jake in here and mentally beat information out of him.

That would be the best news Iā€™ve heard all year!

Weā€™ve been waiting so patiently for JHM to release their supercharger

I just became an official dealer for them so Iā€™m waiting for the ā€œtop secretā€ envelope with all the details to show up, LOL. But seriously, been very busy and Iā€™ll try to get more info for everyone.

Hell, for a $5000 engine drop, Iā€™m half way to a supercharger. The install would also be 1/3 of the headers and 40% faster :sunglasses:

Maybe I SHOULD wait lol

Any news on this? After following the history on this it seems like JHM subscribes to the same definition of soon as APR does

I know theyā€™re fabricating the intercooling system right now but thatā€™s all I know.

Iā€™m looking forward to seeing how in the world they are going to route things in this engine bay especially with the dual throttle body setup. Looking at their s5 4.2l setup im not even sure that would work. Install on this one is going to be a doozy.

Itā€™ll be slick  Will be mounted in the same place as the S5 I believe.

Damn it, I was hoping for similar setup to TTS with the charge cooler and supercharger all mounted on top of the vee.

Thatā€™d be cool but hugely expensive. Theyā€™d have to develop an entirely new intake/plenum plus I think the Vortech blower itself is quite a bit larger than the Rotrex. Rotrex doesnā€™t have the best reliability record either. But yeah that would have been slick packaging. Wish the roots type blowers were more efficient at high rpm than they are. The PES seems to hit low to mid-500ā€™s with a safer tune and the Vortech will be hugely more efficient at 8500rpm. Need to find out which version theyā€™re using but would suspect the V1, just donā€™t know what trim. Vortech has a bunch of compressor maps up on their site.

Ok i have not updated as of late as ive been super busy ! But i did say ill keep you posted.

Last time i was talking on here i was suffering from a judder when creeping forward with no throttle after fitting the LWFW as soon as i touch the throttle it goes away.
Well soon after talking on here with @Ape_Factory i had a transmission issue that lit my dash up like a Christmas tree lol i also had a lot of jerking and big kicks in the back when in traffic while holding the brake pedal and then limp mode came in !

It turned out on VCDS read out to be clutch pressure was to high on K1 and with all the other symptoms i was getting my transmission guy worked it out that i needed to buy a mech repair kit Gen 3 as my 2014 model did not have the muti coloured wiring harness in which i thought it should of had being a 2014 model ?
So it was either a Gen 2 or Gen 1 if i recall the colours of the wires on the harnesses on my car were blue and grey/ or white i canā€™t remember now ?
Picture of the mech repair kit not a great picture i know !

I had already put new clutch plates in and i now had to replace this kit inc the new clutch solenoids that came with it.
This has made a difference to the judder i was getting and has made it feel better than it has been for a long time as i was hoping it would do, but its still there very very slightly not so much in a straight line although you can just feel it still but on turning left or right with no throttle it is more noticeable as itā€™s under more load.
Iā€™ve also found if Iā€™m in S mode or M mode or dynamic it does not judder ?
So this got me thinking why would this be ? Is it because the clutch pressure is set higher in these modes than in comfort ? And if so would it be worth me getting Kurt at JHM to up my pressure slightly in comfort mode as this could surly solve this issue ?
Let me know what you guys think and if Iā€™m on to something or if Iā€™m miles away !!

Thanks in advance guys appreciate all your help :+1:

Would this have anything to do with your revised catless tune? Seems youā€™re the only one running it, JHM would not have tested it.

Canā€™t see the tune causing this. Any changes are all on the ECU side of things, wonā€™t need to change the TCU side to de-cat. Weā€™ve all been running the tune for a long time now and this would have crept up multiple times. Spiros has pretty much the same tune and heā€™s fine. Hell, heā€™s doing track days.

It is interesting you have the 2nd gen. I always thought they made changes early in the 2014 model year (cars would have been produced in late 2013). Steve, whatā€™s your carā€™s born on date?

I would get in touch with Kurt just to see what he thinks. He may have you do some logs with the VCDS. But numerous variables here including the new clutch, new solenoids, etcā€¦are the solenoids from Audi? I know there are a lot of DL0-501 rebuild kits on eBay but theyā€™re all sourced from China.

The other thing you could try is flashing back to stock and see if it behaves the same. If it does, it may be a component, calibration or installation issue.

As @Ape_Factory is saying i would of thought not as the TCU has not been touched only the ECU tune has been for the Catless tune !

I thought the same and was surprised it had the Gen 2 and not the Gen 3, my car was born 26th march 2014.

The Mech Repair Kit is OEM Audi. I got it direct from them as i have a friend in the parts department so he knocks the price down for me.

Good idea to put it back to stock and see if there is any difference, ill also ask Kurt and see what he thinks it could be and if he can think of anything we can tweek to get this issue solved.

Its frustrating as i have thrown everything at it and its still there its better granted but still there !!
My mechanic said its due to the single mass flywheel being solid and it having no give / absorption in it as the clutch touches to get the biting point and grips up ? But why is no one else getting this if this is the case ?
Iā€™m well confused with this Iā€™ve been told to live with it but its hard to as if this was not there everything would be perfect :persevere:

I could definitely see the one piece flywheel causing a slight judder at low speeds, the dual mass is designed specifically for that as itā€™s most likely caused by gear lash (tolerances). The extra mass is also stored energy to help the car get rolling. You may have a gearbox thatā€™s slightly on the loose side tolerance wise too.

There is the ā€œGearbox Malfunction in the Instrument Clusterā€ TSB that Audi just lists through MY 2013, no serial #'s give. But, there is also the ratttling TSB which covers 2013-2015 cars? Condition:
ā€¢ Bump felt just after the vehicle is brought to a stop.
ā€¢ Rattle noise heard from transmission at idle speed.
Would be nice if they listed by serial # or scanned part #. My old tranny was a '13 dated NSD and the new tranny is a late dated 22 Oct 15 (MY15) PXL tranny so it should be good. Iā€™ve got it in a pdf but it looks like the site doesnā€™t let you upload pdfā€™s.
