Oil cooler hose broke off

So my oil cooler hose from the oil cooler thermostat to the oil cooler adapter behind the alternator broke.

Need a new hose and fitting. $500 in parts, $1000 in labour.

Great…

Do you have the thermostat hard-mounted to the frame rail? Or do you have some rubber isolation in-between?

I honestly have no idea as I don’t work on my own car. I have neither the skill nor the space lol

Again? Didn’t you have a major oil leak once before?

I need to find an oil leak above my alternator right now myself.

The first time was another oil cooler hose that touched the belt and ripped it up (i.e. in front). This time it’s in a different spot (behind) and involved the joint/fitting it would seem. The leak was slower this time allowing me to finish my drive home and call a tow truck.

What kind of hose and fitting did you buy for $500…

I don’t know. My mechanic is handling it and I trust him. Just remember that in Canada, we pretty much pay anywhere from 50 to 100% more than Americans for our car parts…

I forgot you were in Canada… I thought that number seemed a bit outrageous if it was in the US

I thought the same thing at first. but canada makes sesne. When you work in the dollar rise and that those fittings are expensive as it is when your in the us.

Axel good to hear you got it sorted out.
