Oil cooler upgrade larger cooler?

Ok, my list of mods is getting way more towards the completed vs to do list. I did a dumb thing, and made a spread sheet to track it all. It keeps a running total at the bottom and my wife found it…

That being said Im moving towards the end of my list. Next up will he the jhm oil cooler line upgrade. I saw a thread, im pretty sure it was koolade that posted it. It was a massive oil cooler and power steering cooler. Im looking for the brand and part numbers of each of you dont mind sharing. After that its 6 rib conversion then comes the blower. I just got my downpipes, 5r clutch and flywheel installed. Holy shit did that wake up my car. I also added 034 motor and trans mounts, the car is so much more responsive and connected. It just keeps getting better!

I’d do the JHM oil cooler lines, but don’t bother upgrading your oil cooler. The heat exchanger isn’t the source of the RS4’s high oil temps. IIRC, the PS cooler is just a 12x10 Derale from Jegs, nothing fancy.

I know the fittings are going to break, I’d really rather change the cooler out to the one you used.

Well in that case: It’s a Setrab 50-172-7612. You’ll also need their M22 to AN adapters (I used -12 for the OE lines)

The OE oil cooler is a Setrab as well. If you can get the fittings off, it really is a nice piece…

Koolade, any educated guesses on why oil temps are so damn high? The JHM SC asks for the removal of the auxiliary radiator but that doesn’t seem to have any effect.
But besides the RS4 oil cooler, are the R8 and RS5 coolers the same Setrab units? Can you post pics of your setup if you don’t mind, thanks.

Well, I thought it was due to the heat exchanger package; then I thought flow was potentially being diverted through the oil cooler block, but I was wrong. It could be an issue with the thermostat, the oil pump and/or bleed valve, or an imbalance of the motor at those speeds, but I could be wrong.
