oil level WTF

Serviced two weeks ago; today my excess oil warning comes on.

What should I do, let it burn off (while staring at the annoying warning light) or get some drained

I’ve read that the only real risk of excess oil is to your cats…and heck if my cats go I get to go get JHM test pipes. And if we’re up in there doing that then I get the clutch flywheel too.

But… why did the warning come on with a two week delay?

Do you have a dip stick? If not, I would grab one. I personally wouldn’t want to drive with excess oil. I believe it makes it possible to froth your oil, which in turn pumps oil foam into the engine which is obviously not good. Keep in mind this is just what I’ve read about it. I try to be diligent about correct levels when I do my own oil changes.

you can get some vaccuumed out pretty easily

didn’t I do this for you once already on your previous S5?

Yeah a friend with a vaccum extractor is your best bet.

Or just a small diameter hose like from HD or Lowes and suck it out yourself. I’m a bit religious and extra cautious when it comes to this car, so I’d personally not drive it like that.

Yes, right upon delivery from phaff.

Sounds like consensus is to get it drained.
