Oxygen Sensor Replacement B3S1 2008 S6 v10

Entirely depends on your budget and mechanical ability.

  1. Oxygen sensors depending
    1a. Three of the O2s are unreachable with the engine still in the car. They are bank two (cylinders 4 and 5) sensors 1 and 2 along with bank four (cylinders 9 and 10) sensor 1.
    1b. Three of the O2s are annoying to replace with the engine still in the car but doable. They are bank 1 (cylinders 1-3) sensor 2, bank 3 (cylinders 6-8) sensor 2, and bank 4 (cylinders 9 and 10) sensor 2.
    1c. Two of the oxygen sensors are extremely easy to replace. They are bank 1 (cylinders 1-3) sensor 1 and bank 3 (cylinders 6-8) sensor 1.

Does anyone have a write up on bank 3, sensor 1?
I haven’t looked at on the lift …yet.

Well… I only have the German SSP376 for Audi 5.2l V10.
They only write about 2 banks. Left and right 5-cyl. banks. But if we can agree that bank 1 is cyl. 1-2-3, bank 2 is 4-5, bank 3 is 6-7-8 and bank 4 is 9-10 then it should be as follows…
Seen from inside the car looking out towards motor…
Left side is cyl. 6-10 where 6-7-8 goes into cat. #3 with O2 sensor 3 G285 bank 3 before cat. and O2 sensor 3 G287 bank 3 after cat. Cyl. 9-10 goes into cat. #4 with O2 sensor 4 G286 bank 4 before cat. and O2 sensor G288 bank 4 after cat.
Right side is cyl. 1-5 where 1-2-3 goes into cat. #1 with O2 sensor 2 G108 bank 1 before cat. and O2 sensor 2 G131 bank 1 after cat. Cyl 4-5 goes into cat. #2 with O2 sensor 1 GG39 bank 2 before cat. and O2 sensor 1 GG130 bank 2 after cat.

G39, G130, G286 - engine out.
G131, G287, G288 - difficult
G108, G285 - easy

Bank 3, sensor 1 is the G285… the easy one before cat. #3 (left most furthest back cat.)

I can print/patch and scan the images of the setup later if you want?

This was a legit 10 minute job. I put the car on stands, removed a crossmember (4 bolts, 16mm socket) and then removed the 02 sensor (China Freight offset O2 socket).
New 02 in, crossmember bolted in and car on the ground. No more CEL.
Hopefully I can get it smogged this week…

Not sure if I’m allowed to post it here… I have scanned the SSP, printed the 2 pages, “spliced” them together, corrected a couple of textual errors and scanned the important parts… but nevertheless I guess Audi’s copyright still stands :thinking:
