Passenger Seat Related Fault Codes

Hi Guys,

My airbag light is on, and when I cycle through the codes on VCDS I get a different one every time. Almost all of them related to the passenger seat. There is one outlier that comes back periodically which is one of the front crash sensors. I switched it from the driver side to passenger, and the code stating MIL on moved to the passenger side, so that should be a straight forward fix. The seat however has me baffled, please see the codes below; please keep in mind i copied these into a text file one by one because these faults did not come up simultaneously but rather separately each time i would scan. It is my understanding that the Audi service bulletin relating to seats was in fact launched for the driver side seat, and more specifically for the 01217 side airbag igniter code, as seen in the audizine DIY http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...(Audi-TSB). As you can see below, I do not have this code, nor is it in the driver side seat. My question is, should i go ahead and try the simple diy on my passenger side seat anyways or do you folks think I would be going after the wrong circuit in the seat?

Can you pull the seat back and check the harness. If you clear all the codes what ones come back on right away. Can you still control the seat.

I will try to see if I can reach harness without removing seat tomorrow. The seat is still functioning properly, so this is an interesting one… Maybe the connectors need a good cleaning, I hope I find something obvious! This one has me a bit perplexed.

You should be able to get the seat jacked up enough to see and get your hand under the seat. From there I would plug in your vagcom clear the codes and see what codes come right back. Sit in the seat see if any codes come back and then unplug one of the two plugs under the seat and grab those codes. If you can report back with the results that should help.

Just to update this thread, (sorry for late reply Justin), I tried seat connectors with no success and so I decided to go the easy route and wait for my front crash sensors to arrive. I replaced the right front sensor which I had thought was the faulty one, and the airbag light cleared.

This does not answer all of the the “MIL ON” fault codes related to the seat, but it isn’t something I am going to worry about now that the light is off. Thanks for the input.
