I swapped the coils on cylinder one and the codes didn’t move, it only came back with a 3rd new code…

17763-Ingition Circuit-Open cirucit
P1355–004-No Signal/communication
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON

Upon start after clearing codes I can’t even drive 20 feet without CEL flashing and engine is rough and shaking pretty bad, I dont understand why its shaking so bad for just 1 bad cylinder. I wonder if this could have anything to do with my lifter ticking, i was thinking not cuz its not even ticking that bad and as you can see from the camshaft pics in my thread the wear is not even that bad.

Please help I had to have it towed again for the 2nd time, THis is STRIKE 2 on this bitch. I swear one more and I’m going to have to… well no I won’t because I love this car and will take it to the grave but I just want it back puuring like it used to when I first bought it. Guess I shouldn’t of spent so much time on cosmetics and kept a little more up on motor work cuz it seems to have caught up and is kickin my ass around the block!

Check/change the sparkplug on cylinder 1. Just a guess.
Does the MAF hose/intake path have a leak behind the MAF sensor going to the throttle body?

One random missfire can cause the motor to have trouble making one rotation and
run like crap.

Thats why its called variable valve timing.
Electrical system can’t get a clean timing sequence.
So the motor bucks a lot.

Sound like the car had an electrical seasure and isn’t done yet.

Make sure the connectors are all seated well and try swapping the plug from cyl 1 with another one.

If the code doesnt move, then check the wiring continuity from the connector to the ecu connector. Check voltage on 3 of the pins (I assuming its a 4 pin coilpack), should be two grounds, 1 large 1 small and a large 12v, check the voltage to the opposite polarity battery terminal.

Thanks beamercer, it turned out to be the wiring from the connector on the plug to coilpack, new connector, problem solved.
