wonder if stage 1 will be stock motor, stage 2 will be built with intercooler but stock fuelling, and stage 3 will be 2 with upgraded fuelling

wonder what the limits of stock fuelling are. I’ve heard they’ve exhausted it, but wonder if it is feasible and economically sensible to make a stage 2 package as I’ve described it above an option or if it’s a waste of time to go built motor only to be limited.

Would be nice to see what they’re able to do.

I think stage 2 will be cooled, upgraded fueling and X amount of boost.

Stage 3 will probably just be XX amount of boost.

I don’t see a market for people going just stage 2 …instead of 3 after they already dropped the coin for a built motor.
IMHO if I just spent 10-15k for a built motor…what is going to hold me back from throwing the extra few grand between stage 2 and 3 supercharger? I would probably go full BLOWN stage 3 and run lower boost when I’m out putsing around and higher boost when it’s time to knock some heads…or rip some bumpers off on the way to the grocery store.

If they’re limiting boost only, that’s going to be a tough sell to differentiate 2 from 3

The bold section sounds right and knowing JHM they will probably push a lot of components on the stage three kit.

The intercooler should be part of the stage 2 kit and a great option for the stage 1 kit like what Axel mentioned earlier. Hell it would be great if you could get intercooler kit while waiting on a built engine/stage 2 SC kit so you could play with the stock engine for a while. That would ease the long wait a bit.

Sorry to say this but… The S4 owner really gets boned. Firsr it looks like the motors can’t take much more then a detuned stage 1 and if you venture too much further into power you need a built motor. Just after that the fuel system runs out? Ykes… tough road to travel

The B6 B7 S4 engine holds just about as much power as most of the other engines, lets say 400-450awhp before it needs rods etc… its just that the 4.2 takes a lot more effort to be “built”.

The RS4 high pressure fuel pumps will not be able to keep up the flow and pressure at some point too. For example, just look at the 2.0T FSI in the B7 A4s because APR came out with a high pressure fuel pump to address the same issue. Look here:

Then the FSI injectors can’t flow enough at a point. So some people have tried switching their 2.0T injectors to the RS4 or S3 injectors. Which is probably why APR sells S3 injectors here:

The moral of this point is there are always limits.

This sounds about right euroswagr, and to everybody, we can’t forget about the nitrous system. As I was talking to Dru about my motor build, he was hinting at them combining that with the Stage 3 system which would just be amazing. And yeah at this point with the money I’m throwing down on the built motor, there’s absolutely no way you won’t see me at the front of the line for the Stage 3 system.

I think the kit is cursed, or I’m an idiot…probably both. Having issues with controller no open solenoids. It’s all in though. Hopefully have time this weekend to re-attack it.

Now, if stage 2 were built motor, IC, upgraded fueling throughout the system and the V3 pushed to its limits; with stage 3 being stage 2 + NOS, that would be crazy haha.

In the end, just like the others, if I ever do end up going built engine, there’s no way I won’t be pushing the V3 to its max, whichever stage that happens to be. :slight_smile:

I dont see the V3 getting maxed out on the S4…if it does happen it will be a very rare setup for some insane person.

I’ve said this before, but if we see built B6/7 S4 in the 600awhp range (legit, not B5 HP) that is a pretty serious car for anyone. There wouldn’t be too many cars on the road that would challenge you…except one of those damn JHM RS4s

I think 600whp is fairly close to maxing out the V3 (using 20% parasitic loss equaling 750chp or thereabout).
