Anyone have a simple way of doing a drain and refill in home garage?
ITs really hard to get to the return line on the driver side just under the resivware. You can always just pull the return line off the resivware and drain and refill but I don’t like doing that due to possible air in the line. I use the flush over time method. Pull out all the fluid in the resivware and replace with fresh fluid. Do this every few days itll take 2 full bottles Vs one to flush and clean but its an easy way to do it.
Dumb question: how do you drain the reservoir that was. I was going to draw it out the top but I couldn’t get the strainer out. What am I doing wrong?
Is the strainer that deep? I am about to do the same thing, I will do the fluid transfusion process as well, no real need to go below the strainer right?
You really can’t remove any fluid with the strainer in place, and I felt like it was going to break when I tried to remove it. Maybe someone has had better luck?
Really?! I’ll have to look…it is on my to-do
I figured a turkey baster ha, or my oil pump removal pump will work
not sur eif s6 as same as s8. There is a hose connection in the driver bottom corner grille. pull that off, let it drain, put it back on, fill, run, lock to lock with wheels in the air, repeat a few more time. fluid will be 98% new. Any air in the system will work itself out in a few mins.
^^ This, you can take the connection off at the power steering cooler.
But I will have to take the bumper off to do this, correct?
not sure on s6, but on s8 the fog light grille insert removal allows enough room to pull it from the res.
Worst case, you pull front clip. about 15 mins of work on a c6
The power steering res on the S8 and S6 are in two completely different spots. The S8 is under the driver headlight on the S6 the res is just above the drive side number 9 coil pack.
