I’m assuming some fluid has hardened in the threads? Never had an issue taking a cap off on this car before, but this one is impossible! I have to top off my fluid once or twice every winter and its starting to groan, however I can’t for the life of me get the fricking cap off.
yeah they get pretty tight, just squeeze on it harder and it should let go and you can fill it up all the way…
Lol I’ve been squeezing it pretty darn tight. I’ll try a towel and pliers after work I guess. I have a feeling something is going to break…
if youre gonna use tools make sure they are clean/sanitary before you go pulling on stuff down under there…
You just have to twist it the right way. Make sure you hold the base so you don’t rip the whole thing off and you get showered with fluid. You’ll know when it lets go. It’s such a good feeling
I can’t wait to go home and do this! I was going to do it in the parking lot at work but I think a lot of people would stare at me. I might get a friend to lend a hand if I can’t manage it by myself.
I find with these kind of things that you can go at it by yourself for hours, then a friend just touches it and it releases.
lok well played… yeah just get something to grip it better and really squeeze when you turn
Got it out with a towel and pliers relatively easy. (ended up doing it on the side of the road as it started groaning loudly). Now I just have to flush the fluid on the weekend as it was pretty ugly looking.

may wanna see your doctor about that, penicillin could help clear it out
There isn’t any medicine on earth that can fix what’s going on down there.
Lol on a serious note, has anyone done a power steering flush with non oem fluid? TBH I’ve been topping mine off with pentosin. I didn’t find out until recently you are only supposed to use OEM only. That being said… I’ve been topping it off for 2 years now and had no problems…
bump anyone have input on using non-oem fluid?
I’ve been running this in my car for over a year. Haven’t had any problems so far
Sweet. I’m going to flush and just fill up with pentosin. The oem stuff is so $$$
It’s almost all the same shit. Just make sure it’s DOT 4. I’m using the febi-bilstein mineral stuff. Cheapest option. 1 year no issues
Actually. I’m taking my power steering out. It’s just extra weight in the car. It’ll offset the surface area loss I’ll get when I put my 1.8T rotors on. Which I’m also drilling holes in to make even lighter and brake better.
