Hmmmm… Ubly isn’t too far for me I’ll see if I can take a day off looking after the baby and join the S6Atron!
Okay just spoke to Linda at Ubly and this is an amazing deal…It is
25 dollars per car
5 bucks for the passanger or spectator
and we have to split the ambulance if we want one.
They are open on the Fridays in October except the 19th.
I Vote the 5th or the 12th
What are you guys thinking?
I am hoping to get my wife’s schedule soon so we can figure out what days she has off! I am also in the process of replacing her turbos in her 335xi because they are smoking on decel bad. I am thinking that I am going to go with the RB Turbos and meth and good gas she should be around 450-480 wheel hp and tq. So her car should go well! I think that we may see 11’s in that girl. I would be way proud of her to roll low 12-high 11’s in that beast…
Anyway what are peoples calenders looking like?
Doesn’t your wife work in emerg? Bring her, and we’ll supply bangoman from the Canadian contingent (he’s an anesthesiologist)…and the ambulance men can tkae the night off lol. Besides, we can use one of the avants as a bus if we need to transport someone to the hospital pronto.
That’s a VERY good deal I have to say. What was the minimum number of cars we need for that?
That would be perfect because Boots is a ER Doctor and Bango is Anethiestlogiests and I have the Estate (Wagon for the late Person!) to get people to the hospital. Only problem is that Audi’s break down, so hope it doesn’t happen on the way to the hospital…
I have an even better idea, no one do dumb shit and if an unfortunate turn of events happen just fix it before you get hurt!
Oh man I am so smart!
It is a great deal I am excited!
do you like my punctuation!!!
jfunkey spelling mixed with lots of caffeine, sugar and jolt colas = that post^^^
hahahaha - I won’t know my schedule until late Sept
holy hell that’s cheap!!
Looking like Friday the 5th of october is working for people on my end!
October 5th is the date!
sounds good
Prime time r u coming?
Who else is, I need a head count
Hey, do we have somewhere out there we can stay? Or is this a one day affair
Here are some candidates…
bangoman
boraVR6
me
clochner (B8)
jspazz
p.s. we should let JHM know that we’re doing this. Maybe they’ll be out here in the fall, and this would be a good time to do so.
I dunno. I just looked it up, you know it’s the same 4+ hours for us to drive there, 4+ hours for Cleveland people to drive there, or 4+ hours for Cleveland people to just come up here to TMP. And by that date, there won’t be huge lines in the staging lanes here at TMP.
Where is everyone from? Is just coming up to TMP a dumb idea?
Americans don’t have passports. I have tried that idea in the past…doesn’t work lol.
Anyway, TMP will be a test and tune day, and it will be a Saturday not the Friday. If you want to rent TMP, it is around $150 per car if I recall correctly.
Well I’d still rather see them up here, but failing that why don’t we go to Thompson if the track is so damned fast? Its the same travel time as B.F.-nowhere Michigan, from here. I’m not really caring about renting a whole drag strip to do 5 or so passes.
If it’s up here, I could borrow a benchmark douchebag-guy car for you guys to line up against…so you could say you beat a F…or Mc… down the strip. I’ll even sandbag, it would make great video on AZ…
Personally I don’t really care to go just for a ‘fast’ track. I just thought it would be fun to go to somewhere central for the 10 or so guys who usually get together in Detroit.
If you want a fast time, how about you just run at Cayuga and we’ll knock 2-3 tenths off your ET, I’ll write it in marker on the slip, and we’ll call it a day
Incidentally I just reviewed a run at Milan Dragway in Detroit (the big Detroit track) and the track is less than 1 foot downhill over 1320 feet. That is 0.06% downhill. Thompson is 17 feet or 1.3% downhill.
I was having another look at Cayuga and it’s not actually downhill at all. I will have to get the numbers. Not sure why I thought it was downhill a few feet. I can post someone’s pbox file for review if someone wants. We tried to pbox 81bear’s car, but we used the wrong kind of SD card unfortunately. I forgot my SD card so we tried an SDHC but no go.
I called JHM today…well see if he calls me back

Such a big deal about the slope still, Sak, so… I did a quick back of the napkin calculation for Thompson, for that 11.7 sec run the slope would have helped to the tune of an average 10.9 hp. It’s not nothing, but not as much as you’re making it sound.
That’s an odd comment. If it’s not a big deal, why do you want to drive all the way there?
If your napkin tells you that -1.3% slope won’t add up to anything more than 10 hp (a.k.a. about 1/100th of a second, or 0.1 MPH in trap speed) I will have to politely disagree with said napkin. I know you’re an engineer, so your napkin math trumps other people’s real world testing, but needless to say, real world testing disagrees with your napkin.

[quote=TB993TT]the slope below is 4.2m in 307m so 1.35% and the difference it makes to a 60-130mph run (compared to flat) is about 0.5s…
On the flat I was doing 7.45s 60-130s and on the 1.35% slope as above you can see on the graph it took 7s flat…

That’s a 1.3% decline too ironically…shaving almost half of a second off a 60-130 run for a VERY fast car. That’s pretty big…certainly not possibly written off as ‘10.9 hp’…especially when a B8 S4 should be an even bigger gap. Of course the bigger speeds take ages, however I’m quite comfortable saying that over a quarter mile (0-115 MPH), you’re still going to see considerable delta on an S4. For perspective, APEXIT saw about 1.1 seconds difference running flat vs. running -2.9%.
If you’d like to put it to rest, we could easily test this with a flat run vs. a -1.3% run for your car for say 0-110 MPH. Do a couple of runs of each and see what the data says.
Interesting data from the pbox. I have found that the pbox is almost universally wrong vs. dragstrip clocks when it comes to ET and the charted data. The live display data is just about bang on. It is not that the charted data is inaccurate all the way down the track. Rather it is off 2 tenths of a second in the first 60 feet (it can’t replicate a nicely staged run’s rollout very well). From the 60 foot marker on the timeslip, to the end of the track, it is bang on the money. I have data from Cayuga that shows this. I have data from Milan dragway that shows this. I have data from Atco that shows this. Pretty much bang on 2 tenths off on the 60 foot, then accurate the rest of the way. Those are all flat tracks. I have some other track data too if you want to see it.
The trap speeds show a little high on the pbox high because pbox reads velocity at the 1320 foot marker…while dragstrips read an average of your last 66 feet of track. The difference between your 1320 foot MPH and your 66 foot trap speed is usually 1 to 1.5 MPH on modest powered cars like these.
