Probably an rs5

I have no words

I have posted in that thread .
Anyway . My feeling is there were not enough cars pushed too hard .

cool thanks.

So what’s your impression on the strength of the motor? You seem to be talking from both sides. On one hand you’re talking about adding superchargers and nitrous to your pending RS5 purchase…then on the other hand you’re intimating that more engines should have blown up and perhaps they aren’t as strong as we think.

You said you were surprised you didn’t blow your own motor. You also said we haven’t seen motors blow because we haven’t seen enough motors pushed (even though there are likely around 100+ cars with 500 whp supercharger setups when you factor in TTS and VFengineering R8s) not to mention the twin turbo R8 guys. Do you mean that we havent’ seen anyone push the motor near it’s limit yet?

Just trying to understand.

p.s. here is what you said a while back…

@saki

The engine is very well built .
Your opinion may differ. I may be wrong . Take it at internet discussion value .
I don`t believe any n/a rs4 engine with stock intake manifold can go above 470-480 hp.
I believe a normal , daily driven rs4 engine can go to 450 hp . Maybe 460 hp engine hp.
You can go higher with oxygenated race fuels.

About the first paragraph in your reply .
Yeah I am  . Im thinking about supercharging (forced induction or chemical ) a 4.2 high-revving audi engine with fsi. I would like it to be similar to the rs4 engine. I would like parts to fit. (twin screw supercharger manifold). I do not know if its the same as the rs4 bns engine .
At the same time Im saying there are maybe 2-3 types of supercharger kits out there that actually force the bns engine. 40% more power than maximum n/a hp is what I say is achievable. Sure you can screw up the tuning or some parts with the mp90 and blow an engine , its not hard.
What I`m saying about more engines blowing up is :
If there were more choices of supercharger kits pushing 100+ hp over n/a you would have had more people trying to get more hp , messing with the pulleys , the boost controllers, whatever . They would have pushed the engine and screwed up and somebody somewhere would have gotten a bad batch of fuel or who knows what and blown an engine.

Yeah I was surprised my own engine didnt shit itself . Out of all the times I revved the tits off it , the few times I downshifted wrong, I launched wot at 6k rpm , used 150 hp worth of nitrous, bad fuel , fiddled with the intake manifold , the spark plugs ... (you get the point) I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG. And after all that it didnt go bye bye.

Ok I dont know how to put this. I live in Romania, I get to see cars with over 400 hp stock. I even see some luxury cars with some mods and more than 500 hp. I even get to see and get a ride and maybe drive some modded cars pushing 500 whp. For example a 997.1 turbo modded by RBN-tuning with some supporting mods (intercoolers, intake , plenum , bolt-ons with stock vtgs) . We believe it MAY push 500 whp . Its a handfull ! I honestly dont see the rs4 platform handling that kind of power. (engine or chassis) . 500 whp of real power , not paper hp is quite a lot . Im sorry . I`m a skeptic (is that correct spelling or is my auto correct going mad?) that anybody got to 500 whp with the rs4.
Again I may be wrong.

twin turbo r8? what an erotic dream  . Yeah with that kind of budget and a built engine no wonder they get 600 whp .

I believe there are motors that have been pushed near and over the limit. They just didn`t show up on the forums.

Hope that clears it up

I think you are smarter than me, and I think I just learn what I read from smart people, so I’m always happy to hear from you.

That sounds pretty reasonable. We have seen a few RS4s dyno in the 360-370 whp range and that’s pretty beefy for an AWD car. Not sure how anyone wants to apply drivetrain loss. Your 450-460 number makes sense. The RS5 is doing that factory, but primarily by pushing the redline out further and eating more air with the better intakes. Limited to 8000-8200 the RS5 would likely peak 435 hp like the R8.

Probably would have. The kits out there do not appear to have pushed the engine to/past its limit that’s for sure…and the fuckups you describe are certainly not out there in big numbers due to the relative rarity of both the car, and even more so, those supercharging to make 550-600 hp.

I would like to see more info on the VF supercharged R8 cars. They don’t appear to be lighting the world on fire. I saw one modest dyno and one 12 second quarter mile time. I believe they are using the TVS1900 supercharger, which should be capable of making around 500-550 whp. Who knows what the GIAC tuning got out of tuning a NA car with a SC added though. That proved an achilles heal for APR on the RS4, before they got a primer from JHM.

The torque hit from the nitrous would do it (if anything was, other than a vicious money shift or brutal fuel on an aggressive tune). If it was a 150 jet, that could get pretty serious. Great that it lived.

The TTS guys claim 600 crank horsepower. That’s about 500 whp. One of them dyno’d on a mustang dyno and hit 480 whp on an S5. On the rundown dyno at MRC (grain of salt…MRC is very in bed with TTS on the kit) they dyno around 600 engine hp consistently. So they’re certainly up there on the dyno.

How about in actual performance for TTS supercharged RS4?

They have a bunch of dragstrip passes in one of the cars.
good fuel, but not race fuel (98 Britain octane Shell Vpower I believe). Just pump gas, no meth, no race. Full interior car etc.

11.4 @ 125.1 MPH

That’s faster than the 450 whp (stock) R8 5.2, a car that weighs 400 lbs less.
That’s a faster trap speed than the 560 hp Gallardo, the Ford GT, Ferrari F430, Corvette Z06, Ferrari 612, 997 1 Turbo etc…

The Mercedes supercharged SLR McLaren (the old $500,000 one) was quoted as 617 hp/575tq and weighed 3900 lbs. The McLaren went 11.5 @ 126 mph.
The TTS RS4 weighed 3900 lbs.

So I am comfortable that TTS is making around 500 whp. As near as makes no difference anyway.

No built engine. Stock motor. 550 whp on pump gas. 600 whp on race gas. Stock motor.

^^ this post is a great rundown of the TTS kit. You should sell it to them for PR purposes.
